Summer

Those would be limes. That would be salt. And over there is a pitcher of watermelon margaritas. Summer's here. It's official.

I have a list of things to do this weekend:
hike
garden
bask
bathe the dog
think
clean up the pile on my desk
have an iced coffee on the back porch
have an iced coffee on the front porch
read

I'll probably get most of it done, but not all.

Have you got something great planned for your weekend?

I'm hoping to see my man for more than an hour this time.

Have a fantastic weekend!

I would enjoy any of the things you listed. Except--cleaning up the pile on my desk. That would take me more than a weekend.
You have yourself a bon weekend.

I had planned on having an iced coffee on your back porch, but as usual an ocean and a continent got in the way. Hey ho.
Have a splendid weekend!

It's autumn here, so I'll do the opposite of all of these things. I'll have to let you know how the pumpkin margaritas turn out.

Watermelon margartias sound pretty good right now, even if it's morning here. I think I'll just amble off to a cafe and have a good cup of java.

My plans? Driving down the Mississippi River on the slightly more scenic Wisconsin side to many sweet little towns like Maiden Rock. The sun is playing peek-a-boo though and it hope it makes up its sunny mind.

J.J., it's a holiday weekend! A couple of days, at least.

Dina, in my experience one has to set aside a whole day. And who has a whole day?

Hey ho, Dive. One of us will cross them one day and have that iced something on a mutual porch.

Ha! Shell, if pumpkin margaritas are drinkable I'll want the recipe before too long.

Your comments are welcome, hapi, but free advertising isn't cool.

Kate, I'm familiar with that area and I think you have a fantastic plan.

Hope Boz doesn't mind going to Bathe R Doggie. Is there a dog equivalent of margarita to cheer him up afterward?

I'm going to Bunny Luv in Van Nuys to get a giant bag of sweet, new orchard hay for the rabbit. Driving there is always an adventure - I usually get lost until I find the Anheuser-Busch brewery and the airport where all the VIPs keep their Lear jets and helicopters.

The bath may have to wait 'til Tuesday, Bellis. Boz's margarita is a pig ear. The only time he gets one is after his bath. Since he's so terrified of bathing it's only fair.

I'm just chillin' this weekend. My gardener just came over for the biweekly mow and blow, I'll do a little cooking now and then, putz around the house a bit and go for dinner and a movie with girlfriends. I'll probably head over to Memorial Park on Monday for the Memorial Day wreath-laying event.

Beautiful photo. I can almost smell those limes. The margaritas look tasty and healthy. The serving tray is a work of art. I think those birds are Pileated woodpeckers.

My list of things to do is so long, it makes me anxious to think about it - and that defeats the purpose of a holiday weekend. So, I think I'll cross a few house projects off the list and just relax, maybe drink watermelon margaritas. Those look delicious!

wv: wories - too much to do!

Well, shucks, wish I were near the Mississippi R. w/a watermelon anything to keep the heat away. Just came in from my walk during which I saw racegoers setting up camp for tomorrow's Indy 500. There's a huge field which is vacant most of the year, now full of campers of all persuasions and sizes making a little city.

T'mrw morning I will get up early for breakfast then watch the Monaco F1 GP on TV. Afterwards, I'll walk over to the track to watch the Indy 500. I got a seat near the pits and close to Victory Circle so I can see a lot of activity. Then I'll come home in time to watch the NASCAR Charlotte 600.

Since no one in my family's interested in the race, I go by myself, where I will see my friends who are interested.

Two things:

Transferring my teeny tiny office to my New York son's bedroom (yipee!) and bugging my eldest son to fix some of the glitches on my computer.

Which do you think will be easier?

I simply love your blog.
My plan is painting. I worked so hard last four months, that now I want to put all my energy in painting. Besides, lying on the couch, walking to the park and multiple trips in fridge direction are also in the list.

Steven, from the sound of it you'll have at least one margarita today if you haven't already.

Everybody gets a break this weekend, Susan. Kick back and enjoy your new home.

Laura, that's a tough one. Both sound like so much fun...

Rapture, PA.

Speedway, there's an article about the Indy 500 in the current Smithsonian magazine that you've gotta read.

Thank you, Irina! It sounds like you have a perfect weekend planned.

Awesome photo and an amazing sounding summer drink. Plus that bird tray is really pretty. Hiking was top on my list for the weekend too, and I got a 3-hour mountain hike in today which was fun (except near the end when it started to drizzle and get cold). Now I just want to relax and not think about work until Tuesday.

The tray is my neighbor's. I know she checks the blog sometimes but I don't know if she reads the comments. I'll have to let her know how popular her tray is (and her margaritas).

Had mango margaritas Friday at the Mobile station Whoa Nellie Deli on our way back from Bodie...Today? With 3 inches of snow on the ground...we're thinking about going out looking for bears today!!!

Petrea Burchard said...

I hope John reads your comment, Chieftess. "Whoa Nellie" is one of John's favorite phrases. He's trying to teach it to the neighborhood toddlers.

Notice I don't have a comment about your snow. It's almost June. I don't know what to say.

The Whoa Nellie Deli is located in the Mobile station at the opening to the Tioga pass which takes you from Hwy 395 to Yosemite...the Deli owner is a very fine chef and has fabulous food. People go there from all over especially on the weekends in summer...a view of Mono lake, and often music out on their lawn!!! When we first moved up here, TheChief didn't quite get the concept of a fine restaurant "deli" in a gas station and couldn't quite bring himself to make the trip specifically to go there...but enough people have told him about it now so I think we'll be making that trip this summer!!!

As for the snow...there'll be skiing on the 4th of July!!! Uggs are my new flip flops!!!

Shut up, already. Margaritas AND a homey fun urban farmer's market. Now you're just rubbing it in.

Petrea Burchard said...

What happened, Margaret? Did somebody steal your car? I'll come get you. Let's go. I'll buy you a margarita.
