Sweet

My life was profoundly changed when a friend brought me a bag of the famous Sea Salt Caramels from the Little Flower Candy Company. You may already know you can find a jaw-dropping variety of handmade candies there. But did you also know you can sit inside the charming shop and sip a cup of coffee or tea while you eat homemade soup or (and) a tasty tartine?

Now you know, and now you have a new favorite spot. Isn't that convenient? Just in time for the second biggest candy weekend of the year. (Do remember them come Halloween.)

I'll be going back soon. There were some marshmallow things that looked like ice cream bars and I haven't been able to sleep since I saw them.

Speaking of sweets: every so often, Postie checks in here From the Sidelines. In fact, one day he clicked the "follow" button and won a t-shirt. Here he is, modeling his prize. Thanks, Postie!

I dream about chocolate ice-cream. I dream already 2,5 months, as I promised myself that I will keep this year's fast (time before Easter) my way, refusing the most preferable: sweets (true way is to decline meat, vine, fish, etc). I know that on Sunday, 24 (or at least on Monday) I will buy big box of chocolate ice-cream and eat it slowly and happily. Big girls)))

that looks divine but truthfully, my teeth hurt ;) Will you post the chocolate-marshmallow bars? Or will not come out as nice?

I think it's the best post to say: Sweet easter to you and to your family dear Petrea.

I love this charming little spot across the bridge. Nourishment, sweet treats, books and good company, all in one location. You can't beat that!

Wow ! They look sensational. I have a sweet tooth and can't resist chocolates.

I have a real weakness for Robin Eggs (Whopper's Malted Milk and Chocolate)... I try to stay clear of the candy areas until after Easter.

Beautiful colors in your photo and it does make my mouth water!

This photo alone makes me want to visit Little Flower. And they have coffee and snacks? What a wonderful idea. Like Genie I'm a sucker for Robin Eggs this time of year. I'm looking forward to half-price Easter candy on Monday.

Oh that makes my teeth hurt! HA Sounds like a very cute place. Let's put that on the V List.

Wow. I'm not the only one who dreams of sweets.

Irina, that's a long time to miss your favorites!

Book Dragon, that photo wasn't so great but I'm going to go back and try again.

Italo! It's wonderful to see you, my friend. Happy Easter.

Design Pasadena, I, too, love chocolate and am shocked at how sea salt caramels can nearly replace that craving.

Bises, Genie. Are you home? If not, what are you doing visiting blogs when you should be visiting a Paris candy shop?

That's a great idea, Katie. I'll put it on my calendar and go back Monday.

Virginia, I hope you're keeping track of the V list because I haven't written down a thing. Katie, you too. By the way, now that Guillemette is married she has family in Pasadena and plans to visit this summer. It would be a clash of fun if all these threatened visits coincided.

PA, I'll look forward to that. The shop is on a charmed corner and you know more about that than I do.

I love this place--so much nicer than the spot the replaced--
( the bee's knees, which might have had one scone or muffin when to choose from when you swung by for a breakfast coffee)

How have I never been to Little Flower Candy Company? I adore chocolate and sea salt caramels. You're right, I do have a new favorite spot.

Still waiting for mine!!!!!!! :-) I will get it soon! I can feel it!

I've had the caramels and they are heavenly. I haven't been to the shop though - sounds like I need to find a friend to bring on a lunch date.

Petrea Burchard said...

Well, let's get over there. Maybe we'll go to celebrate when Daisy gets her t-shirt.

And best of all, you can take your dog and sit outside with your lunch. True, the traffic noise isn't ideal, but still - how many places can you take your pooch to dine?

See you and Boz there sometime? I'll be the one with the curly cocker spaniel...

I'm moving back to Pasadena in a few (loooong) months and can't wait to visit Little Flower! BTW, are those Pasadena t-shirts available commercially anywhere? I've been looking to "represent" up here in Northern California since I moved up. Better late than never! Thanks for keeping me in touch with my hometown everyday!

I Love Those Caramels. I tried to bring home a bag for my in-laws. They never got them. I ate the whole bag. If you love these you must try the salted caramel ice cream at Carmela on East Washington. I took a pint to a dinner party recently. All conversation ceased and we just sat around the table making smacky groany noises. I think one of my friends actually had tears in his eyes. It was embarrassing.

Diana, I'll be the one with the pit mix who looks like his namesake Tommy Lee Jones.

Terry, I've been meaning to try Carmela. Now I absolutely *must*: it may be embarrassing, but people who cry over salted caramel ice cream are my kind of people.

I love those Sea Salt Caramels and those milk chocolate bunnies too. And I crave a great French Silk Pie on holidays. That place looks like an oral delight. Who doesn't like an oral delight?

Petrea Burchard said...

Hi Terry! (She's the one who brought me those caramels.) I'm forever in your debt. Now we'll all be heading to Carmela and we'll all be ruined.

Diana and Susan, we must do the dog thing. Boz will be the one lying under the table, belly up.

Steph, I don't know if they ship, but check here. You'll be calling the Pasadena PIO's office and they'll help you out with a t-shirt, I'm sure.

And Steven, you know I'm not touching that.

So colorful and sweet! I can almost smell the fragrance of the shop...
The Robin's Eggs are good. But I'm such a chocolate fan, I have to go for chocolate eggs. :-)

Tout sweet.

Ms. M, I think chocolate probably always wins. It's like the prom queen of candy.

Hiker: brain candy.

Oh, how I remember my first bag of Little Flower Candy Co Sea Salt Caramels. I don't think there's anything in the whole world as divine as those candies.

Petrea Burchard said...

See? See? Changed your life forever, too, didn't they, Tracie?

I know where to turn to find out what I'm missing. Not only the candy store but a comment with salted caramel ice cream on Washington. I need to get out more. Had just been thinking how Claremont has some wonderful small candy shops and we don't. Wrong and wrong again. Happy Easter.

Speedway said...

Eye candy? That picture is so colorful.

I like cinnamon Red Hots from the Dollar Store and, for Easter, yellow Peeps. Simple taste for simple mind , I guess.

Oh, and then I was reminded of some caramels I would sometimes buy at a candy store in the town where I grew up. I could not bring them in the house without sharing them with my German Shepard. I swear, she smelled them from the backyard. You ever watch a dog eat peanut butter? It's even better to watch them eat caramels. The caramels were the stretchy, gooey kind and the dog drooled with pleasure with her eyes until she got a piece. No chocolate -- I like caramel caramel -- and so did my dog.

Petrea Burchard said...

Marylinn: freeway convenient, too. And they have a little parking lot.

Speedway, I'm sorry you won't be able to join us when we take our dogs to the Little Flower Candy Co, where they can sit outside. Boz won't be eating caramels but I can't speak for the other dogs.
