Everyone has stocked up and gone indoors. They have their wide screen TVs, their sofas, their chips and salsa, their chicken wings, cole slaw, sandwiches and noisemakers, and enough beer to last a dozen people all day.
Everything else is all yours.

Very nice photo and good luck with your team Petrea..
Good day to go shopping or exploring. I will be watching football, but trying to watch both the commercials and the game without using the restroom. One year I actually went to a dance class during the Superbowl because my team came with in seconds of getting in. As Bruce Springsteen cautioned while kicking off his halftime show, "Put down those chicken fingers, step away from the avocado dip..."
I don't understand the rules, so only watch the adverts (which are really good!). Who's playing at halftime this year?
Half Time: Black Eyed Peas.
Thanks, Aysegul. If I had to pick I'd pick the Packers, because like them I'm from the Midwest. But I don't have to pick.
But the ads are good, and I like the Black Eyed Peas. Hmm.
Isn't there a good Lifetime movie on??? We can still eat all the goodies!!!
(just kidding! We're headed for a big Rotary Super Bowl party this afternoon...)
ginab:
Dream game . . . and the sun is finally shining in Dallas!
Have fun, Chieftess.
Ginab, who are you rooting for? (And thanks for the sun.)
Is there a stranger shaped ball in all of sportsdom? I don't think the shuttlecock should count.
I only realized it was super bowl weekend because the chip aisle at the grocery store was sadly devoid of product. I've enjoyed some quiet streets today.
Somebody call the men with the nets—Amy's loose in the streets again.
Shuttlecock is more of a projectile, I'd guess. But I'm no expert in athletics, PA.
Amy! Should've gone to Disneyland!
J+P's loose in the blogs again.
A good time was had by all. A great game that came down to the final minute, and Chico native and Cal Bear Aaron Rodgers was the winner and MVP!
I walked Tommy around Old Town. No crowds but enough bustle to make for good people-watching. Now I'm going to watch the commercials and half-time show online.
Cool photo.
So what did the Black Eyed Peas do? I watched part of their show on youtube and it seemed--you know, BIG, like a Super Bowl half-time show. I hear complaints but I didn't see anything unexpected.
Susan, maybe you can let us know. I didn't watch the whole half-time show.
Didn't see anything bad that they did.
Some critics called the Black Eyed Peas performance "mindless" and "absurd" but conceded that it perfectly fit the hype of the Superbowl. Christina Aguilara botched a line of the Star Spangled Banner and generally sounded like crap. The woman from Glee who sang America the Beautiful was very good, I thought. But that makes sense, because she IS good.
Well, it's hip-hop. If they didn't want mindless and absurd they should have hired the Royal Shakespeare Company.
J tells me Beverly Sills refused to sing the national anthem because it was too hard. That song wasn't written for the human voice.
By the way, Fergie has a hell of a voice. Maybe she should have sung it.
You are sweet, Patrizzi. I rarely hear them! (Listening to the wrong stations, I guess.)
