Boz's Feet

Boz has the prettiest toes. As he ages his fur has turned white but you can see the golden brown color they were when he was younger. Look at those black claws/toenails! I am enamored of Boz's feet.

Boz doesn't particularly care about my feet. Shoes, however--shoes he does take an interest in. If I'm wearing my slippers, he knows I'm staying home. He can relax. No change is on the wind.

But if I put on a pair of shoes, he needs to know which ones and why. If they're my good shoes, are we going to Hollywood and does he get to go? If they're the walking shoes that smell like mud and weeds, I'd better put them on last unless I want him to follow me around the house until I've collected the camera, water bottle, sun visor and leash because he knows those shoes mean fun and he expects to get some.

Boz has shoes. He once injured his foot and had to wear a bandage while it healed. He could still walk, and we wanted to get him a shoe to keep his bandage clean. The only thing we found in his size were little doggy cowboy boots, and the store sold them exclusively in sets of four. We only have a couple of pictures.
Something was bugging his ear.

He didn't much mind the shoe. (We still have three clean ones.)

You know how to make me smile, Petrea! Now I'm enamoured with Boz's feet, too. And those little cowboy booties ~ priceless. I hope my grey hair looks as fine as his someday. {Not too soon, though...}

He has the neatest feet, Petrea. Unlike my two rescue dogs who have splayed feet with toenails that are far too long - but I still love their feet regardless. A lovely post.

You've heard of "hand models?" Maybe Boz could get a gig as a "paw model." You might just have a million dollar dog right under your nose. Please cut me in on a piece of the royalties if this idea takes off.

Love every bit of Boz, including his cute feet.

Shell, I thought of getting him a cowboy hat for Halloween, but he doesn't take to hats like he does to shoes.

Jilly, we have his nails trimmed occasionally, but he walks enough that we don't need to do it too often. It seems with splayed feet, that much walking might be painful.

Steven, is the paw model business a youth market like the rest of Hollywood? If so, Boz's paws will be character actors.

Me too, Margaret. Your Scout has some mighty cute feet. Let's face it, dog feet are very attractive.

When I saw those paws, I thought you'd woken up to find John had turned into a werewolf. Then I remembered it was Tuesday.

Oh my gosh, I love the little cowboy boots! How hilarious.

Boz does have some good looking feet! I wouldn't know about Pepe's feet....he's a SharPei and won't let us touch them. He does have some gnarly toenails, though.....

Yes, well, they have shoes up here too...seems some dogs get cold feet...Daisy, on the other hand, doesn't seem to care...she'll walk right out into the snow and lay down...of course, she is a bit senile these days...

I do seem to have a theme of dogs and shoes this week. I wonder if I can find something to photograph today to continue in this pedantic vein. Maybe snowshoes.

Maybe Boz could go retro with Madge the Manicurist to promote Paw-molive: "I'm soaking in it! I'm soaking in it!"

Boz likes soaking in things.

this one makes me smile! nothing quite like adoring a dogs feet.

and the descriptor on him following you around figuring out which activity you're up to based on shoes is priceless!

of course, if paw modeling IS a youngsters biz, you're going to have to dye Boz' paws! ;-)

and be careful if you're going to soak him in palmolive...the results if he chooses to lick the water OR his paws post-dip are...uhm...squishy

Petrea Burchard said...

Probably not Palmolive. He's not a lover of soap. Poor thing shakes and shivers when we bathe him (in warm water). He really hates it.

Quick! Pick a paw, any paw! Which one hides the treat?

Glad they had a boot that coordinated nicely with his fur.

A fun post! They have dog "boots" here in sports stores, but I haven't seen any as cute as Boz's cowboy boots. :) There was a friend I had years ago who loved to smell puppy feet (only puppies she knew, of course).

Ok, P, I think we already have your entry in the local blog foto of the yr for 2011. Of course, you need a dog to help you.

Pasadena Adjacent said...

does he or doesn't he? remember the old Palmolive commercial? wait a minute: maybe I'm thinking of hair dye

never mind

Petrea Burchard said...

Ha! Speedway, any treat would have been long gone.

True, Latino Heritage. And Boz is totally fashion conscious.

That's a whole different kind of foot fetish, Ms. M!

Why thank you, Cafe.

Only his groomer knows for sure, PA.

What a wonderful photo of Boz's feet. And what gorgeous feet they are. I love how attuned he is to your every move.

he's got "happy feet". i love that he has his dew claw. have you read "the art of racing in the rain"? if not, read it. you will love it!

Petrea Burchard said...

Thanks, Maria, I think I would. And Boz uses his dew claws, or fighting claws, kind of like thumbs to hold his bone when he chews is.

Susan, you've probably noticed with Tommy how he tunes in to you. Our dogs are experts at gauging us. They live by what we do, so to them it's extremely important.
