Artistic Mews

This cat knew how alluring she looked in her pink window. She posed for several photos while I stood on the sidewalk and snapped away.

Briefly, with Kitty as my muse, I became the Annie Liebovitz of Northwest Pasadena, the Ruth Bernhard, the Louise Dahl-Wolfe!

Oh yeah, Kitty. Gorgeous. Gorgeous! Just move a little into the light, babe. Beautiful, beautiful! Hold that for a second. Okay, okay. Chin up a bit--good, good--great! Now give me a little pout, darling. Fabulous!

A tug on the leash.

Forms of expression other than artistic had come to pass. Boz, my canine muse, was reminding me of my less glamorous responsibilities. When I looked up again, Kitty had retreated to her dressing room.

You know I'm in love with this, don't you, Petrea. I appreciate Boz being patient as long as he was so you could capture this gorgeous thing. Thank you!!

Oh, I think that this might capture Shell's artistic muse...

Love the colors, love, love them! Boz was quite amused (and patient) with your creativity... and a wonderful result.

This is adorable, and your composition is really lovely.

Why does this photo remind me of a "cathouse" in Amsterdam? Great photo.

I don't think Boz was all that patient, just otherwise engaged. So glad you all like it!

Steven, all she needed was a red frame instead of pink.

For all I know, this cat's a male.

Nice. Nice. Nice. But the again, I'm a sucker for cats in a window, in photos or in real life.

I'm with K, you can't go wrong with cats. I love a good title pun too.

The colors here are just gorgeous!

Love this, Petrea!

A hot pink window frame in a Craftsman bungalow. It looked great. Not too flashy, nothing that would cause the neighbors to protest. Someone in this house has good taste, speaking of the artistic muse.

I was talking to London squirrel two weeks ago. More in friendly then bossy manner, asking to turn head here and there. Animal followed all my requests, that was funny. And scary... Because I talked in Russian.
The photo is super. Very.

You left too soon. She was putting on her sable.

Love this photo :) I've taken several kitty in the window pics too over the years. Boz was very good to let you take photos of a --- cat!

I'm laughing at your comment, Irina. Surely he was a Russian squirrel. London is such an international city!

Hiker, I'm picturing a cigarette holder and pearls with that. Damn, I guess I missed it.

Ms. M, he never even noticed her. She must have been thirty feet away or more, and his world is not that big.

I notice the vertical and horizontal lines, offset by the squiggly lines of the trees and shrub -- nice contrast there and in the taupey grey with pink and green.

Then there's that fuzzy orange splash, contemplating the world outside of the box that forms its universe. I sometimes wonder if the cats contemplate the trade-off they made to be our fuzzy companions.

I had one cat I swore was keeping a journal, but I never found it. Since they communicate with each other via scent and twitches of tails, his tales were passed on (through the windows, of course) "written on the air" as "Life with an Upright: Yawn."

Stunning! Truly an exquisite photo from the composition to the colors to the subject. You really did get that cat to work it and pose well (or else you had a little bird on your shoulder to get the cat to look your way).

OK, I'll say it. Cats are dumber than sticks.

You, however, are smart, and I love how your eye has developed.

I just came from PA's, where I gushed about her cat post. Time for more gushing. This is gorgeous! One of my new favorites. Great catch, Petrea.

Well, you are all lovely people and I'm glad this photo is a hit. I certainly enjoyed working with the model.

I'll take Susan Campisi's advice and see what Pasadena Adjacent has come up with, cat-wise.

Shell, with you I believe it is fire.

26 comments? could cats be the next money shot?

Petrea Burchard said...

J.J., could be a king, I'm not sure.

PA, cats are soooo money. Your current amazing cat post has come up in recent conversation and it wasn't just the tiles. Though I do want the tiles.

I love the way you wrote this!

Thank you, Dina.

Love this shot Petrea!!! For all the reasons above and more!!! I love cats...sorry John, but I have to disagree, dogs allow themselves to be "owned", cats allow us to live with them...
