Zen Monday: #121
It's Zen Monday, the day you experience the photo and give us your thoughts rather than me telling you what I think the photo's about.
I look for a photo worth contemplating or, failing that, something odd or silly. And unless I absolutely must say something, I stay out of the comments box until the end of the day to avoid influencing the discussion.
There's no right or wrong, we're here to have fun.
Why do Pasadenish chain chairs to trees? Am I missing something?

Advance planning for tree hugger sit-ins.
I can't follow the chain of thought either, Petrea.
Sweet Chair-A-Tree!
After a traumatic Rose Parade experience when he was six, Todd vowed that he'd never be without a chair again. The city estimates that he has chained over 759 chairs to trees.
Chair-man of the bored.
"Is this seat taken?"
Some people are dog-persons. Me, I'm a chair-person. Here's my Woody, adopted from the Goodwill shelter, tied up outside Bulgarini's while I get my gelato.
"If you love something, set it free. If it comes back to you, it's yours. If it doesn't, it never was."
Ch-ch-chain...chain of fools
I think I saw that chair on a milk carton.
"Have you sat on me?"
Ah, that's just how I feel on a Monday at the office, Petrea, like I'm chained up and banging my head against a tree.
Well, I'll be a son of a beech tree.
Not to stop the fun-making here, but if I'm not mistaken, that chair is chained at the corner of Washington and Catalina, in front of Longfellow Elementary. The very nice gentleman who is the crossing guard at that intersection had several chairs stolen (he needs someplace to sit while waiting for kids to come out from school), so he finally decided that the best thing to do was chain it to something, so that it could never be stolen again.
Or, someone is planning ahead for the Rose Parade, like Mister Earl said.
Escape!
The victim thwarted his evil, but dim captors when they chained his chair, rather than him to a tree.
Well no offense but that's a homely chair. I don't there's going to be a stampede to steal it!

Unclear on the concept of a tree swing?
It's kind of sad, chained that way.
"If I've told you once, I've told you a thousand times, come home before curfew or I'll chain you here to teach you a lesson!".
and I am NOT kidding, WV is: chairea...what happens when a lactose intolerant chair eats too much cheeze? Or, perhaps the true meaning to "chained to the toilet"?
It looks like it's being punished, a very baaaad chair.
Chairiatrics
Unchain my chair baby let me be
Cause you don't care please set me free
wv = pestrera (I think that's how Colin Firth would pronounce your name Petrea if still in character for King George VI)
Place for the tree to sit when no one's looking?
"A Chair to Remember"
Sonny and Chair, "I Got You, Babe"
wv: Limelli (Jell-o pasta?)
Ouch
Ah...ya know, sometimes I put up a Zen Monday picture thinking, "I got nuthin'." But those are the ones for which you all come up with so much...which. Whut?
Even getting the real story behind this chair (thanks, Loren) didn't stop you. I love that. Thank you all for a wonderful Zen Monday.
This made me laugh.
(I guess this is Zen Tuesday for me.)
