Have a Nice Day

Sometimes you have a rotten day. Maybe you get a late start. Then traffic sucks and you get to work (late) and everyone's in a lousy mood. Someone calls with bad news. Your boss isn't speaking to you.

It's not even time for your coffee break and you're already creating a list in your head--a litany of the day's woes to recite to your friend or your spouse as soon as you get the chance at the end of the day. And when that finally comes, you're beaten down.

We all have a right to our litanies. But these are the times when it's wise to count our blessings rather than our troubles. Somebody somewhere has it worse today than I do and that's always going to be true. So I'm sending my thoughts to that person--to those people--and hoping more blessings get added to their lists.

How's your day going?

So far, so good. And a little Christmas shopping this afternoon will put the finishing touches on a hopefully quiet day.

Can we use that lot for a garden and some goats?

A little early to tell, but the sunrise was beautiful.

Just reminding myself, Anonymous. ;)

A quiet day. Joanne, that sounds lovely.

It would be nice, Mister Earl, but I think the city has other plans.

Jean, you're off to a good start.

Too much to do today, as ever, but I'm off to walk the Arroyo soon with friends and dogs, so life is good. Thank you for the inspiration.

My day started an hour too early as I'd forgotten to change the alarm clock to winter time. By the time I realized, the pets (who usually wake me gently at 7:30ish) were up and raring to be fed.

Thanks for making me feel good that my yard isn't quite as bad as this one. I wonder where you were?soznci

I didn't get enough sleep and I don't feel like working today, so I'm a little crabby. But I'm going to eat a big bowl of piping hot oatmeal and count my blessings. And truly I have many. Thanks for the reminder.

Isn't that always the way, Colleen? Too much to do? It's easy to forget to take time for ourselves. Thanks for reminding me to put yoga on my list for today.

Bellis, that's the Hahamongna Annex. I haven't been there in a while. I hope the fence is still there but I don't know.

Maybe we need to pin a note to our pockets today, Susan. "Remind Susan to count her blessings!"

Some highs, some lows...and it's not even ten. I imagine the rest of the day will be about the same. No complaints. I'm just saying.

Yes, a beautiful day, count our blessings!.
The cats are snoozing, may follow them later this afternoon.

It sort of looks like a place that wants to "become," perhaps a place for contemplating our blessings. It reminds me of this site at the Indianapolis Museum of Art's "100 Acres" art park -- http://www.imamuseum.org/100acres/artists/alfredojaar

The time change always messes with my body clock and I feel like crap til it changes again. Couple that with chronic pain and...grr!

Here's hoping the day blessed you all. No new complaints for Margaret, smiling kiln gods for PA, a decent nap for Pascal Jim and some relief, pretty please, for J.J.!

Speedway, it would be lovely if we could create a work of art at the Hahamongna Annex, using what's already there. What a great idea.

Ginab, I may put that one on my wall. I was thinking of you.

I woke up today in a bad mood as I knew it would be crazy at work, but I had just enough time to check your blog before I headed out the door this morning, so with your reminder I changed my tune and was determined to make it a good day. It was still insane at work, but I survived (helped by a piece of my favorite coffee cake) and now I'm home and sipping wine and eating Trader Joe's gorgonzola crackers and I have no complaints.

Good thoughts to keep in mind. My day didn't start well, but things are being handled and it will work out.

I had a great day, merci! I love this rock wall and those nice old steps down to the green grass. Parfait!

So glad you had a great day, Virg! A big ol' blessing, counted.

Ms. M, I hope it works out soon and well.

Katie, you made my day with your comment. I'm glad you made it through!

a wonderful way to turn a bad day into a better day...

Chieftess, I hope you didn't have a bad day. Folks like you should have only good days.

Not bad...but frustrating...changing internet providers from cable to Verizon...took forever as well as two calls to Verizon tech support to get mine connected, the Hubman's still not...

You know, even though I like my boss, I don't mind when she doesn't speak to me. ;)

I am a very blessed girl, extra so lately. I keep reminding myself.

These remains/ruins are lovely.
