Door, 4

While you're out enjoying Art Weekend it seems fitting to post another door, especially one that's padlocked, as I'm shut in with a cold.

I'm not feeling sorry for myself. Oh, no no no no no. I'm feeling all benevolent and everything because I'm not going out and spreading my germs among the multitudes, unlike whoever spread this germ to me.

This provocative portal can be found at the Hahamongna Annex north of Oak Grove Park. At least it was there when I visited last spring, and I don't believe anything's been torn down. I hope not. I love rusty old sheds with creaking doors, and I'm feeling a particular affinity with this one today.

I'll get over it and, as I said, I don't feel sorry for myself. John's taking good care of me. And there's something luscious about being forced to rest for a few days. It's an excuse to putter around the house, to write, to read, and to appreciate the days when I feel human. I promise you, those are the norm.

What a beauty! Sorry to hear about your cold, Petrea, but it's great that you're looking on the bright side of it. These things can be blessings in disguise.

The old, neglected doors full of rust beg to be photographed -- So glad that you captured this one.

Being sick is no fun although you are being "tended to." Hope you are feeling better soon!

I've decided to take the "blessing" route this time. Staying home to write. Can't do much else, so I'm going to enjoy it.

Yep, this is a "provocative portal" alright. Sorry you've got a cold. It's the boredom of being sick that I can't stand. Well, actually, I hate everything about being sick.

This crazy, hot and cold weather we're having is made for catching cold. I hope you get better soon.

Those locked door always fill me with curiosity.

Sorry you're not up to snuff girlfriend. Get well soon.
Love your rusty crusty door though.

Illness becomes you. The supermarket line wins the prize.

Someone give that door a hanky! For a school biology book, we had to define "health," but it was really hard to do. Ended up with "Good health is the absence of bad health." I guess it's true enough - we only realize how good being well feels when we're not. Get well soon!

I'm not really bored, K. I'm catching up on blogs. I was way behind.

I would have tried to break in, Vanda, but it looks like someone already tried. I don't think I got the cold from the weather. I think it was from someone I came in contact with but I can't remember who it was. Too bad, because I really want to blame someone.

Rusty crust, Virg. That's me.

Thank you, Hiker. (Hiker refers to a comment I made on her blog. See? I'm keeping up.)

Bellis, you were with me when I took this photo. Abby and Boz, too. And I was feeling healthy!

Monty Hall doesn't care for numbers larger then three

I agree with you, Petrea, there really is something "luscious" (great word for it) about being forced to stay in and read and write and maybe watch a movie or two. That is as long as you're not in utter misery from your illness. Sounds like you're able to take full advantage of the hibernation.

This is not the style which welcomes you to get in..
Be healthy! I like the cold only because of one thing: you have the opportunity to make yourself the center of your universe. For three-four days only)))

It's a good thing Monty Hall never visits my blog, PA, I'd never hear the end of it.

I'm getting a lot of writing done, Susan. I just hope that, when I finish, the work isn't some muddled mess resulting from cold meds.

Irina, it's true! I'm allowed to be selfish, just for a few days. I'm taking advantage of it while I can.

Just went to look at the door again. It looks just the same - you could have taken the photo yesterday.

What a bummer to hear that you've been stuck inside today sick, but I do like your representative padlocked door. I always got flat ginger ale and Saltines when I was sick as a kid; I hope John has come up with a more appealing cold remedy. Hope you're feeling better soon!

Blast this cold, Bellis! A walk in the Annex would be nice.

Katie, right now I'm having tea with an organic blueberry lozenge. I'll be having beef barley soup for dinner. I'll probably have crackers with it, but I'm happy to skip the flat ginger ale.

That's a fascinating door! A great "found" object d'arte.

Sorry to read that you're ill. I hope you're feeling better soon!

Thanks, Ms. M.

I was going to over you cure-all chicken soup, but beef barley sounds even better.
Sei gesund!

I should've had the chicken, Dina. The cold is still with me today. Maybe these things just have to run their course.

I did a lot of puttering around the house last week, and it made me very happy. Here's hoping your cold is better by now though!
