Art Weekend

Pasadena's bursting with art. There's always an exhibit, a concert, a play or a spontaneous expression. Twice a year, in October and April, we have Pasadena Art Weekend, an event that's dear to my heart. This weekend the slogan is "6 events, 1 weekend, all free."

Art Night kicks things off tonight, when local art museums and other venues open their doors to the public, gratis. Free shuttles will take you from site to site. Plan ahead to see as much as you can.

There's quite a list of four events happening Saturday, including the Latino Heritage Parade and jamaica (ArtHeritage) culminating at La Pintoresca Park, Art of Food on South Lake, ArtWalk in the Playhouse District and ArtRhythm at the Paseo Colorado. I don't see how it's possible to catch all of Saturday's events, but it's worth a try.

Sunday is the Cultural Dance Festival at Memorial Park. It lasts all afternoon but at least it's all in one place so it should be easy to see it all.

All of this is free. Pasadena's just bustin' with art and you should go get you some.

Having such an abundance of events is a lovely problem to have, isn't it!

Everyone from all the Denas will be out and about. I had planned on Artwalk.

Has anyone ever managed to get round all the galleries and museums on a Friday night? There's such an abundance. No wonder it attracts the folks from the other Dena.

I've never managed more than four venues on Friday night, and even then I felt like I gave all four short shrift. There's so much to do. I've got a cold right now that I'm hoping to kick. If I do, I'll start with the Latino Heritage Parade. Then if I'm still feeling good I'll head to the other side of the freeway and see what's doing.

I love the smear of the chalk heart. Talk about your art walk.

I would like to make photos there. Waiting for yours.

Hmm, nice, Margaret. I hadn't thought of it that way. That "art walk" was something John and I came across in the neighborhood.

Cross your fingers for me, Irina. I went out to buy dog food this afternoon and came back feeling worse than before. I'm going back to bed.

Oh noooo, so sorry you're feeling worse, get well soon! What a shame you'll have to miss all the Art tonight.

Please report back to me, people. I'm down with a sore throat now. If folks get good shots I'd love to post a "guest" photo.

Sorry to hear you're sick, Petrea. I'm missing Artwalk tonight too but will hopefully catch some of the other weekend events.

Love the heart graffiti. Hope you feel better soon.

Ms. M, I'll bet Boise's loaded with these kinds of programs. It seems like such a hip city.

Thank you, Susan. Get out there and have fun for me.

I tried to go but couldn't find anywhere to park around City Hall, Raymond, Walnut, Marengo. Should have taken the Metro! There were lots of people everywhere, seems it's very popular. Sorry about the sore throat. :o(

See, Bellis, what you do is start at the less central venues, like PCC or Shumei Arts Council. Park your car there, then take the shuttle around to all the other stuff. Too late now, but useful for next time. I hope everyone had fun. Good night, all.

Boz is nuzzled at my feet, growling in his sleep. Couldn't be sweeter.

I think going out for dog food might be a reason for your cold, P.
As a canine I advise against eating such stuff! If it doesn't make you sick, you'll at least die young & be lucky to see 20.

Aw, thanks, pup. But I had the cold before the dog food trip. Shouldn't have gone though, you're right about that. But a pooper needs to eat!
