Skye and More

Skye Moorhead in her studio

More and more these days you need a professional headshot. That old snapshot of you guzzling a can of PBR in your "Zeppelin Rules!" t-shirt (or was that me?) doesn't cut it for online business networking. You need a pro photographer who's got the studio, equipment, make-up artist, camera, assistant, and all the blah blah blah and dayam! It gets expensive!

Maybe not this time. I was visiting Pasadena photographer Skye Moorhead in her studio the other day and it just so happens that she'll be shooting a special Photo Day this Saturday, May 15th. There are still spaces available. For a discounted rate, you get it all because marketing genius Paula Johnson is putting it together. Paula has produced several of these photo days for Skye (this one's #6) with great results. Check out the links and see all the fantastic faces Skye's photographed.

Skye's passion is photographing people with their pets. Although they won't be there on photo day, a casual visit to Skye's studio can mean a cuddle with Otter and Augustus, her friendly Labrador mixes. Boz doesn't like having his picture taken but Skye makes you feel so comfortable I think he'd enjoy it. And I'd love to have one of her portraits of him and me.

Ooh! I just thought of this:
"More and more these days you need a professional headshot. A Moorhead shot."

Whaddaya think? Think Skye'll use it on her website? Think she'll pay me the big bucks for it? Who's the marketing genius now, huh, Paula? Huh?

Nevermind.

"A Moorhead shot." Oh, nicely done, Petrea. Very nice!

I'd never have picked that Boz doesn't fancy being photographed ~ maybe when his mum's taking the photos, he's more amenable to the whole thing?

A portrait photographer named Moorhead? That's like a dentist named Moortooth! Sounds like a good deal she has going on this Saturday, for those who need a professional headshot. Be sure to wear your Zeppelin Rules T-shirt when you have your portrait take with Boz. Unless Boz wants to wear the shirt.

Shell, you can't imagine the machinations I have to go through to get a picture of Boz. Or I should say, the machinations he goes through to avoid my camera!

Katie, funny you should mention that. Boz has a couple of stitches on his tummy and the veterinary assistant suggested he wear a t-shirt. I haven't tried it, though. I don't think he'll tolerate it.

I'm stuck on the Boz piece, too. My dogs love having their picture taken. Of course, just about anything makes them happy -- coming in the door, going out the door, air...

I love it when your competitive nature slips out--

Your dogs, Karin, are optimists. Boz is a bit of an Eeyore. But we say our affirmations together each morning.

Desiree, at least I don't compete with Skye!

I bow to your marketing vision and skillful execution!

Whatever we call 'em, the portraits that are created on Photo Day are great.

Everyone loves their photo and has new appreciation for what celebrities go through to get those "natural" shots (with hair, make-up, ideal lighting, pro photographers, and strategic re-touching).

Sure, sure, Paula. Thanks for being nice.

Not too much retouching, of course. Skye's portraits look like people. In one of my professional headshots the retoucher redid my chin. Just totally reshaped it to his liking. This was before the days of digital. Didn't pay for that one.

Hmmm...there are plenty of other things I'd like to have a photographer delete or reshape...never thought about my chin!!!

Petrea said...

When one has too many chins it might be desirable, Chieftess, but you and I seem to have the requisite number.

OH drag Bozerino and get that shot. If Boz is hesitant, drag JOHN! I can't wait, can't wait, can't wait to see the headshots , P

Now WHY didn't we line her up for our fine group photo?

I haven't had a professional headshot done in years. May be years before I get another one. But I think what Paula's doing with this is a brilliant idea!

That's a smart idea, and wow, she takes fantastic portraits. Do my Star Wars t-shirts work for professional head shots? ;)

Petrea said...

Ha ha, Virginia, you've seen how much Boz loves to pose, haven't you?

Ann, I agree with you on the brilliant idea. I wonder if Paula and Skye came up with it together or if just one of them can take credit for the brilliance.

Amy, if my Zeppelin shirts work, your Star Wars shirts work. I believe I wore a new Zep shirt to the first Star Wars flick when it came out, as a matter of fact.

I think your shot is fabulous!
I looked at her sight - she is so totally amazing - the people, the rooms! Wow. Thanks for finding her.

I'm glad you like the shot, Tash. I tried to get a portrait of her but couldn't do her justice. She's got a natural beauty I didn't quite catch.

You are the genius Petrea!

Haven't had a PBR is quite a while, quite a while.

And you're too funny, Lori Lynn. I don't want to think how long it's been since I've had a can of PBR. Not that I miss canned beer.
