Maybe Koi, Maybe Not

I have more to tell you about Hulett C. Merritt and the property we've been talking about this week at what's locally known as the Ambassador Campus. But as I write it's much too late for me to formulate more than one or two coherent sentences, so I'll have to keep it short for now.

We're looking north (and perhaps a tad west) toward the second mansion of three that remain on the grounds. Pasadena Adjacent asked me the other day if there were still koi in the ponds. I didn't see any but if there are, I think they'd be in this stream that flows through the gardens from uphill to down, west to east.

Normally today I'd post the April Last Day photo. But normally I'd have my regular computer and my regular software and--well, today's not a normal day!

Interesting: today was not a normal computer day for me either. (On tech support for three hours figuring out DSL stupidities.) Hope yours gets better quickly. No last day photo, though? Aww...we'll have to be patient.

Last week I delivered some brochures to the campus of Maranatha High School, which is just down the hill from where you took these photos, but still on the campus of what once was Ambassador College. One word: Wow. The grounds of that high school look nicer than most private college campuses. I have friends that treat the whole college grounds as a park, and go and have picnics there; now I know why. One of the many wonderful, hidden treasures of Pasadena.

Beautiful photo of a beautiful place, Petrea.

It looks like very idyllic, like a beautiful place to rest for a while. I need no koi for it. Wonderful shot. Wish you a very nice day...

How gloriously upliftingly (enough adjectives!) peaceful.

Coy koi, perhaps...

That's a beautiful photo. Thanks for finding the time to post something for us even in abnormal times. Were you hit by the DSL outage as well?

This is just the sort of relaxing photo I need to start my day. Fabulous! This looks like a lovely spot to wander around. I hope your day swings back to normal at some point soon.

Was there a DSL outage? I'm still kinda being affected by it. Not to take away from the beauty of this photo, though, so I'll shut up and enjoy the view.

Good morning, y'all!

I wasn't hit by a DSL outage that I know of, but an outage of another kind. The hard drive of my previous computer is at the shop where a kindly expert is attempting to extract my files. I have a new, gorgeous computer and I hope to put all the old information on it.

Virginia of Birgmingham Daily Photo and Paris Through My Lens is visiting Pasadena this week. We showed her the Huntington yesterday and will be running her ragged again today. (Sorry, I can't cut and paste with this keyboard yet or I'd give you the links. You see why I'm discombobulated.)

After my brother's visit last weekend, Virginia this week and my computer going haywire, I'm a little off my usual routine. But I'm glad you're enjoying these Ambassador Campus pics! I have some real treats coming up for you, you'll never guess.

Thanks for all your comments!

This photo is "picture perfect." A very inviting view. Makes me want to walk across that foot bridge. The greenery is lush. I can almost hear the sound of the water. I would nominate this photo to be on the cover of your book.

Lovely quiet shot. I'm thinking Huntington Gardens may welcome the peace and quiet today now that our gang of rowdy bloggers has moved on!! :) What fun!

You know, it is a hell of a photo. More & more, my eye's attracted to complex compositions. But folks're right—this shot sends a virtual breeze from my monitor.

Glad you guys like it. Maybe we'll go walking among the mansions today.

Remember "Tidy Bowel Blue" from the Aztec Hotel and bar? ....anyhow, the reason I originally asked the question about the koi, is because when I visited the pond at the Ambassador campus, those poor fish were immersed in water only a few shades lighter then Tidy Bowel blue.

A little research and I discovered it was a chemical called Methylene Blue. Koi specific, it's used against bacterial, fungal and parasite infections.....and if administered incorrectly, it weakens the fish. Does that answer my question? Poor poor koi. They were really big, friendly and pretty.

PA: Found them! They're at the bottom of the pond, bottom of the hill. Big and friendly. I'll send you a photo.

Cafe, not coy at all. Rather forward, in fact.

Anonymous, I don't think that's what he meant but it's a cool song.

just had to run an ethernet cable to the Hubman's computer again...we've had a devil of a time connecting his wirelessly ever since I got my new iMac...do you think the pc is acting up because I deserted it for a younger and more beautiful iMac???
