iSmax of Santa

At Seattle Daily Photo, Kim does a regular "iPhone Wednesday" feature. I keep meaning to give it a try. (Hey, she said I could, so it's not stealing.) But except for my pseudo-Monets I haven't knocked my own iPhone socks off yet.

But John has. I love his reverse Santas. He photographed them with his iPhone inside and out of La Galette, a delectable pastry shop in Sherman Oaks.

I decided they're acceptable for Pasadena Daily Photo because John's from Pasadena and because the shots are so great. Then I begged him to let me post them.

John calls them "Recession Xmas" and "Smax Noissecer."

Love John's titles!! The photos remind me of a "Spot the difference" competition. So far, apart from the obvious difference, I've spotted that Santa's changed color, and there's no Open sign on the right-hand one. But now I need to tear myself away and get some Xmas shopping done.

Very clever. I like it.

They definitely put me in the holiday spirit.

Aysegul, here's how behind I am: I didn't think to think of it until you said that.

Hi Shell! I'm way behind in visiting everyone's blogs this week and yours is one. I'll be there, I promise.

And look at the shadows and things outside, Bellis. This one's really fun.

Thank you, mark. Are you the Mark from Dive's place? Whichever Mark/mark you are, you're most welcome here.

What ever works, Margaret. I happen to need a pantheon of pagan gods and goddesses to get into the spirit, but that's just me.

You two should do joint blogging more often.

As much as I like John's funky reverse Santa photos, it's tough knowing that he took these shots from a “delectable pastry shop” (with a French name!). You know I’m now desperate for photos of the pastries. Was Santa’s beard not shown because it was covered in crumbs?

These are really brilliant shots, but the titles are even better! (said the word wonk....)

Good work John! Love these.

Petrea, this is so multi-layered. At first I was wondering why John did not spell the mirror image of Xmas Samx...and then I saw your title had the i related to iPhone in the title for iSmax, then I was distracted by the nuances of the photo and at realized that the 'Everything must go' sign was not a huge sign on the building across the street, but a smaller sign in front of your bakery bldg. and then I got caught up in the fact that the reflection of the sign not being reversed letters was very...how you say....mind blowing...for me. Tells you that I probably need to meditate more. Perhaps I'll meditate on the sign as a sign....Everything must go.. HAH!

He knows if you've been bad or good, no matter which side of glass you're looking through!

Dina and Katie, in the interest of answering both your requests, I ought to send John out to take pictures of pastries all over town. But he'd have to eat them.

Linda, John's a word wonk, too, so he'll appreciate that.

He'll appreciate that, too, Marley!

Susan, maybe you should meditate less?

iSlovely to see you, Des.

That he does, PIO. Now let's have a pastry.

It takes wonk to know wonk.

Great photos! Like how the reflections layer together. And the titles are superb, too.
Maybe he could photograph some reflections of pastries... :)

Good one, sweetie.

My goodness. I guess you all want pastries. I'll go find some pastries, just hang on!

Yes I am the mark from Dive's place. I also show up at Katie's blog. They are two of my favorite people in blogland. I admire talent. That's how I ended up here.

Mark, John and I are honored to be in the company of Katie and Dive. (We're hoping to snag a double-date with them if/when Dive comes to California.)

That would be soooooooo cool. I hope it happens soon.
