Oak Grove Equine

inspiration: Laurie

Yesterday at Glimpses of South Pasadena, Laurie posted a photo of a front yard with an unusual tree swing. The more I thought about it, the more I thought, "I've seen that before. I've even photographed it."

Close, but no cigar, as they say. At Oak Grove Park, a similar swing hangs from a high branch not far from the parking lot. This is a lesson to me, which is Never Delete a Photo.

Even in the light of day this device looks to be better suited in a dark torture dungeon past the midnite hour.

Here I was about to say how wonderfully creative this swing is, but thanks to Cafe, I'm now looking at it in an entirely different light. My wv is muter. I guess a dark dungeon needs one of those. Yikes.

When you enlarge the photo, it looks like a fun horsie to ride.
Ain't it the truth? You only need something the day after you have finally thrown it away.

CP, Now you stop that! That is a cute little swing...I think. Hmmmmm

And P, I just cleaned out my Iphoto trash yesterday and 2,300 photos went bye bye. I had to do it. I have wayyyyy tooo mannyyyyyy! But you're right. Everytime I do it, someone calls the next day and wants one of them. They are all somewhere on my ex hard drive if I knew how to find them.

If this were my swing/horse, I'd name him 'Chopper' - since it almost can look like a Harley motorcycle/chopper! Good one!

Looks like some kind of singing wheel chair!

Yes, never press delete :)

Did you try it P?

(I notice CP made that comment just around midnight. Gives one paws.)

Never Delete a Photo! Been there, done that. Today, photo organization is an advanced science.

I like the idea that there is a family of these around town.

Hi everyone, nice to see you on a Saturday!

Cafe, it's a child's plaything! When I was a little girl I would have loved it. What warping happens as our minds age.

V, I don't mind tossing the blurry ones that don't work. This one's borderline--a picture of something interesting, but not a particularly imaginative angle, etc...I'm glad I kept it, though.

Hi, Brenda! All right, let's call him Chopper.

Karin, I didn't hop aboard Chopper. He's still there, though.

Michael, if you've figured out this science I'd love some pointers. iPhoto is way behind, if you ask me, as is Picasa. I don't know where to spend my money as far as photo organization is concerned.

Linda, I wonder if there's one person who specializes in them or if it's something people have always done.

Petrea,

When you were a girl, you had the real thing!! (But the horse tree swing still would have been fun!)

Petrea Burchard said...

Sherri Lea, did you have the real thing, too?

I haven't seen a swing like this. But as a kid who loved to swing, I would have loved it :)

Sherri Lea said...

Yes I did... You had Pandora, right? Then you got Brandy, a big showy Saddlebred mix. I had Smokey... Cathy had Skipper... Julie had Polly... Beth had Socks... Am I missing anyone? We had so much fun - what a great way to grow up!

I agree, Ms. M., I think this would be a draw for kids who love horses. Kids like me and Sherri Lea--who grew up across the street from me!

Hi Sherri! I wondered if that was you. It's so cool to see you here, on this post of all posts. You got all those right. I don't know what kind of mix Brandy was, he was just big and pretty (at least I thought so). So maybe Saddlebred was it! Smokey was a sweetheart, Skipper was blind in one eye, remember? Perfect for barrel racing. Julie's horse was Pollyanna, the only one trained for English riding. And it was Becky who had Sox the pinto. You jogged my memory.

You're right. What a great way to grow up.

Sounds wonderful.

Hiker, I hoped you'd see that. Sherri and I grew up across the street from each other, isn't that cool? We lived at the very edge of a smallish town, just around the corner from a retired farmer who rented out stalls. We were lucky our parents saw what a bargain it was.

What a fun style of tire swing! I could definitely see how it could cast some scary shadows at night though!

Amanda Mae said...

I've seen this kind of swing in a book (with movie) on what to do with old tires. Oh, the things you can do with tires, It's pretty neat!

Welcome, welcome, Amanda Mae. I just love that someone did a whole book (with movie) about what you can do with old tires, and that you read it.
