Wiggle Waggle Walk

Here's an action-packed sporting event involving three happy dogs who don't have a care in the world, thanks to owners who love and care for them. That's Sprocket on the left, Jerry in the middle and Boz on the right. John and I adopted Boz a little over six years ago and he's been enhancing our lives ever since. He doesn't have much of a tail to waggle, but he finds myriad other ways to show his appreciation.

Pasadena Humane Society & SPCA's annual Wiggle Waggle Walk is coming up on Sunday, September 27th at Brookside Park. There you can join with animal lovers from miles around and raise funds to help the more than 11,000 animals (of all types) that the PHS cares for every year. The walk is schedule for 9am to 2pm.

The Pasadena Humane Society is a broad organization helping all kinds of animals. They even have Wildlife Services. I suspect the Station Fire has created a stronger need for those services now than ever before.

The Wiggle Waggle Walk is a fun way to support all of PHS's services, including animal adoptions, education programs, wildlife services and more. I'm sure it'll be an action-packed event that will help more animals live their lives without a care in the world, thanks to the people at Pasadena Humane Society who care so deeply for them.

Dogs happy together, having fun. That is a good sign, as you said.

Here in the Jerusalem Hills we have more jackals than dogs. I wonder if jackals play together, just for fun.

Ha! With us it's the coyotes. As the sun goes down they start yipping. It sounds like they're enjoying themselves but they might just be hungry.

There's an interesting vowel omission in your posting which reminded me that the Humane Society originally used to take in homeless (orphaned?) children as well as animals. Life must have been tough in early Pasadena. I love the WW Walk, it's such fun to see all those dogs leading their owners around.

I posted on this annual event last year.

These dogs do have slave provided health care, correct?

Oh, Bellis, you're so tactful. I've fixed it now but I'll leave you're delightful comment. Is it true? I guess so, but I'm still laughing at myself. Let's just say this hasn't been my most stellar blogging day ever.

Absolutely, C.O., if you mean their guardians are slaves. You betcha. In fact Boz is due for his check-up over at Foothill Vet.

And there's a grammatical error in my last comment. I give up for today!

That's ok, we get you. (So curious about the omission, however.)

This will be my first year for Wiggle Waggle and I can't wait! Your dogs are cute :-)

Yes, thanks to the PHS.

Wilson came to me from Boston Buddies, a Boston Terrier Rescue here in Southern California. I got him when he was three. He doesn't have much of a tail either, oh, about a half inch, but it still wags. Hello to Boz and the gang.

Love wiggle waggle.

Boz came from Boxer Rescue in San Fernando, where the Altadena Hiker has been known to volunteer some of her valuable time. They also do great work.

Lori, I was grocery shopping at Trader Joe's and the music on the intercom was "Sunshine of Your Love." In college I thought that was some rockin' hard music. (Let's face it, I still love it.) It made me think of Chet and Ernie and air guitar.

Like Pasadena Humane Soc. a lot. Went there two years ago looking for a dog and came home with our two kittens. Our shepherd/akita mix puppy is from PHS too.

I am waiting my puppy to grow up a bit and play happily like that. I love watching them play as you say so carefree..

'Wiggle Waggle Walk' ~ hee hee, I love it! In Australia, the RSPCA has a Million Paws Walk every year - similar concept.

Happy Wiggle Waggling to all!

We got both of our dogs from the Pasadena humane society. They are a great place to adopt from and really make sure you can care for your pet. Great oppurtunity to support htem. Also teenagers can volunteer there. I know my kids want to do that when they are old enough.

Michael, it sounds like when you go to Trader Joe's for a bag of chips and come out with ten other things.

Turquoise D., do you have friends or neighbors with dogs? Hera can play with other dogs right now as long as they're gentle with her. (Boz is good with puppies.) It's important for her socialization and she can learn from the other dogs.

Wow, Shell! That's 250,000 dogs!

My adult friend volunteers there, too, Lisa, and loves it.

If there are any look alikes for these three guys there, sign me up. You and John and Boz can drive him/her to B'ham , OK??? :)

Virginia, you are so cute. Always trying to get yourself an LA dawg. Don't they have some good-lookin' pooches in the 'Bama?

Coyotes and jackals just have to sound off, I think.
You know, after our little forest fire, the night after, the jackals' cries were much different from the usual. I'm quite sure they were lamenting their lost home.

Petrea Burchard said...

Do they still have plenty of forest to roam, Dina? I don't know what ours will do after a burn of 250 square miles of forest. Most must have died, but some surely escaped (I hope). I've seen deer now in places where I never saw them before, and a mountain lion was sighted close to civilization.

Coyotes are resourceful. Are jackals the same?
