I know, Loren. I don't even know how they did this. They even managed to have the parking lot echo the building and sky.
Believe it or not, Shell, I have another favorite loading dock in Pasadena. Could there be more? I haven't gone looking but maybe I should.
Susan, it's on the west side of Daisy St. just south of Foothill. I forgot to get the name of the company when I was there and Google's street view camera blurred the logo. One of those places I pass all the time and don't see, you know?
P---used to be a generalized commercial warehouse---ahem, a few years ago...dunno what's there now.
there used to be quite a lot of shipping docks down Raymond. Daisy, Foothill and Walnut and those areas had a ton too. But, progress took a lot of those buildings and upgraded them to more efficient uses--housing or office space that you can charge more for than warehouse space.
Thanks for the delightful blue---sure is better than the grey or pink that has been showing up in pics due to the fire!
This picture reminds me of some of the stuff USElaine likes to do. http://willitsphotooverflow.blogspot.com/
Italo, I'll have to put gas stations in Sicily on my "to do" list.
Still a lot of warehouse space where Daisy cuts across Foothill and Walnut, Trish. Car repair shops, that sort of thing. Also artist studios. I like the area.
Altadenahiker, I look forward to the loading dock angle you come up with.
That's appropriate, Vanda. Did you enlarge the picture to see the numbers?
Ha ha ha, Pascal Jim. http://www.ranchobar.com/
Pasadena Pickles, I think you are an artistic genius.
Petrea, it's so nice to see a loading dock that someone cares about...sounds like a joke, but I'm serious. We so often see such mundane workaday locations that are so ugly and here someone has made a statement that even mundane can be dressed up to be easier on the eyes and even though it might not make one smile always, it's pleasant. Also nice that they took the sky into consideration when painting...
I don't think I've heard someone talk about their favorite loading dock before. This one does seem to be well kept up, and the blue is a nice touch. I'll have to keep eyes open for loading docks around here :)
OK, you know Iove this shot, so can I just observe that "Symmetrical" sounds like a diet drink? Maybe one that redistributes your fat so you're balanced …
And you know *I* love this shot too. As has been observed, the blue sky/blue paint is perfection, and the square of ground shadow echoing the corner point of the building. The patterns of squares and lines, with everything so clean and tidy, in an industrial sort of way. We see the hints of life where the trucks have backed into the concrete delivery platforms, then hurried on their way. Everything works. 8^) Thanks so much for the shout out.
But I might change the title of the post. It actually makes me think of an Olivia Newton-John song. Nothing personal, but to me that's not a good thing.

It's beautiful. I love how the blue sky and blue building almost (but not quite) fade into each other...
There's sky? Oh, there's sky. This would have to be right up there with my favourite loading docks too, Petrea. :)
Where is this, Petrea? I'm sure I've been here, but can't quite place it.

I haven't a favorite loading dock per se, but I will give them a closer look.
It's very Sesami Street. Today's word is: Blue. :)
My favorite loading dock is located at 2485 North Lake.

I'm going to pop "Kind of Blue" into the CD player and stare at this wonderful photo and wait patiently for a blue truck to show up and start beeping.
I know that loading dock, Greg. It's sweet indeed.
You may need some of this to make that happen, Katie.

I like it. I'm a sucker for the color blue. They keep it pretty clean for a loading dock.

Perfect drink choice Petrea to wait for trucks at this blue loading dock! Stop by and I'll share.
Nice thoughts, Susan. Somebody has to work there, it might as well be attractive.
I'll have to go on a weekday, Keith, and see if it looks this neat then.
I'll bet Boise's got its share of beauties, Ms. M.
I'll be right over, Katie.

You know this shot makes me think of you, Elaine.

Suggestions?
"Let's get 'dustrial, 'dustrial, I wanna get 'dustrial... lemme hear your body shop, your body shop... wanna hear your body shop."?
I'm going to have that song stuck in my head now. At least the lyrics will be better.
Aww, and I had Carole King in my head this morning. Oh well, I can live with Olivia Newton-John for a couple of hours...
I still just love this shot, Petrea. It's sticking with me...
I might go back with the new camera and shoot it again, Loren.
Just drove by today. The name of the business is Restaurant Depot.
