Ventanas Window

I'm a lightweight. I didn't used to be. I think I need to get out more often.

Ventanas Restaurant and Bar at the Westin is a quiet spot for a weeknight martini. A little off the beaten track (aka Colorado Blvd.), which is sometimes exactly what you need.

Or exactly what I need. For me to tell you what you need would be presumptuous.

Got a favorite weeknight spot? It doesn't have to be a business establishment. Let's hear it.

Beautiful lines. Sometimes I think we don't need just colours but nice lines as well.
(I don't know if you understood!! OH, WHY I didn't study ENglish at school!)

Oh, I love the geometry of this photo and the glossy reflection on the floor. Also the lighting is superb. This looks like an advertisement in a magazine. It should be saying something like, "Everywhere you want to be" or "something, something, something......priceless"

Looks quiet, which is what I like.

Good morning everyone, or whatever time of day it is for you. Nice to see you all. Aysegul, I couldn't get on to your blog last night so I'm especially glad to see you.

Italo, you express yourself perfectly well in English. I think it's more a matter of use than study; I studied French in school but haven't used it. I don't speak it well and can barely write it at all.

That "glossy reflection" is the table opposite. Not that it matters, except that the carpet helps keep the place quiet. I suppose if it were crowded it would be noisy, but on a Wednesday it was a subdued crowd.

Nothing wrong with being a light weight, it just means you are a cheap date (in the nicest sense!)

My favourite watering hole? My local pub. Its about 10 mins walk, a friendly relaxed place, does good food and, more importantly, good drink. I've got some great memories of it, and some rather fuzzy ones!

If I could find a watering hole in Pasadena that would allow us to take our dog, we'd be there. In England, dogs are welcome in the pubs. There was one near Cambridge with the strange name "Take the dog for a walk," so that husbands with a taste for good beer and company in the evening could say in all honesty to their wives "I'm just going to take the dog for a walk."

Wow, thanks, Marley. I think. I like the description of your pub.

Bellis, reliable sources tell me that Lucky Baldwin's welcomes dogs on the patio. I haven't tried it yet. Maybe we should meet there and tell our husbands "I'm just going to Lucky Baldwins with the dog."

That's a marvelous photo, with the patterns and reflection! Looks like a nice place to have a casual drink.

I really like the lines and retro feel of this photo. Great lighting too. After another brutal work week, I could see having a drink here and being able to relax quite nicely.

I don't have a favorite weeknight spot, but I had a drink at Murphy's Pub in SF last night, and it was just the ticket.

I like the retro look, very inviting looking or perhaps that is due to the way you framed this photo. Either way it works for me!
My favorite watering hole is at the beach with a tall cold one: Pepsi that is!

Beach is a good one. I heard a story on KPCC today about how some Malibu property owners try to keep the public off the beaches there. But they can't, at least not legally.
