Rusty Hinge

It's been gloomy here lately in the early part of the day. Ben called it May Gray. I've also heard it referred to as June Gloom. Guess it depends on the date. Usually the gloom burns off in the afternoon but it didn't yesterday. We had actual rain. Well, not actual rain by some peoples' standards. Not rain if you live in, say, Illinois. But rain by southern California standards.

I enjoy a cozy day to stay in and do housework and write. But I think Boz suffers from Seasonal Affective Disorder. When he can't go out and lie in the sun he's seriously bummed.

I took this photo across the street from this one, on Locust just west of Allen on the south side of the street. I didn't take it yesterday.

I was gonna say this pic looks familiar. Then, you give the coordinates & then I say, "of course it does."

What character! And I love the little rim of grass. {We've had an uncharacteristic stretch of rainy or overcast days on end here and I'm feeling a bit like Boz! I don't go out in the sun much but I like it to be there. Especially when the weather's cooling down, like now.}

Wow, we're on the same wavelength. I posted about June Gloom, too.

This is a gorgeous old door. I love it.

Glad you are enjoying a reason to stay home. But if Boz suffers from SAD you could send him over here where for six straight months there is only sun and heat. Come on, Boz!

Great looking door. I even like the little bit of graffiti, as I can just picture the tagger running a finger through that grime to make his/her mark and then deciding that was a really bad idea. I heard on the news this morning that the LA area got really battered yesterday with storms, with more to come. No wonder Boz is feeling down! They're saying thunderstorms up this way today; promises promises I really want to hear thunder but I bet we won't get any.

I was born, raised and lived in So. California form 1967 to 2007 and I don't recall ever hearing the term "May Gray" until recently. I wonder if it's a really new term?
It's pretty gray in Newtown Pennsylvania today.

You have a great blog, see you around.

I love the texture that shows in the door. Very beautiful capture & very nostalgic.

Canines sniffing in alleys, eh CO?

Is it coming on winter down under, Shell? I always forget we live in opposite weather.

I'm coming with Boz, Dina. I could use 6 months of sun. Oh. Wait. We'll be getting that soon enough.

Guys, were we "battered with storms" yesterday? Some weather people need to get a reality check. Maybe some other part of town got it worse. Here it was a healthy drizzle.

James: same here. I always thought it was June Gloom. But when it starts in May I guess people need to call it something.

Thanks, David. Welcome to the blog.

Poor Boz. I think you need to get him a sun lamp and some vitamin D supplements. I like this picture, and I love our June Gloom. I will never complain about because once it's over, then its' really hot for a really long time.

I love the title--sounds like an alternative cocktail

Ha! I could use an alternative cocktail right now. J & I have just spent the last couple of hours trying to transfer my email from the PC to the Mac. I have two computers hooked up but only one monitor, and I keep having to go back and forth between the two. I can't believe how long this is taking. The frustration is excruciating. Bartender! I'll have a Rusty Hinge!

I love those little tufts of grass struggling to reclaim their land. Gloomy days are definitely energy sappers. I've always felt, though, that gloomy days should always be followed by rain. Otherwise, it's as if the sun hid away for no reason.

In my opinion, you have to click on to this photo. When its enlarged you can really see what great textures there are in it.

The markings on the doors make an interesting photo.
And we've had the same gray mornings here lately. Even had a thunderstorm this evening.
LOL Desiree -- Y"es, I'd like a Rusty Hinge, please -- stirred, not shaken."

{You've got it, Petrea ~ though I can't complain about Brisbane winters. Usually pretty mild.}

Hi toast: if we got all that rain in our gloomy June, we wouldn't have drought.

Hey everyone, go look at toast's blog, the polaroid project. I just love it.

Speaking of great blogs: hi K. I always click on photos. Wouldn't want to miss any details, especially on your blog.

Ms. M., I'd imagine Boise gets wonderful weather in a nice variety pack.

Do you live near the beach, Shell? I want to time my visit properly...

Come on over, both/all of you!
Petrea, do you really have 325 followers?!

Dina, I have 325 followers. It's wonderful! But two days ago I had 327. They're dropping like flies, I tell ya.
