My father-in-law and I have our own relationship based in a common interest: we're both actors. Before I met him or my husband, I saw Sandy in Shakespeare's Troilus and Cressida in Chicago. Sandy played Priam, the king of Troy. If you knew Sandy you'd say, "But of course." That's because when you know Sandy, you know this guy's going to play the king. He's even got a regal voice.
Sandy's also a lawyer. He's a man of many parts. He isn't feeling well today. Nothing serious. But we're thinking of him. John took these shots in our living room the last time his parents came to visit, so they're within my rule: photos on the blog must be taken in Pasadena or adjacent communities.I miss my father today. He died too young--for me and for him. My scanner's not hooked up yet or I'd break my rule and show you a picture of him. (I already broke the rule when I posted about him on his birthday last year.) I don't know if he was ever in Pasadena but if he was, I don't have the photos.

Rules are just guideline, or at least that's what I'm always telling customer service departments.

Sandy IS regal. That's why I like that second photo. Reminds me of a king on a throne. I didn't want to put it first, though, because I like him smiling.
when the picture is taken by a person residing in or visiting Pasadena, that's ok too. Or, when it is in possession of someone in Pasadena...I think that's ok to post too.

circumvent the scanner being on the fritz---take a pic of the pic. not the ideal option, but it'll get the pic posted.

Hey Petrea, Thanks for sharing your connection with royalty. And Happy Father's Day also to your Dad, my Dad and all those who are not with us. I try to do at least one 'Dad' thing to honor him each year. Today I did some painting.

Happy Father's Day to all the dads out there. Sandy certainly looks regal, even when sitting on a comfy chair rather than a gilded throne.
We did our usual evening stroll on our block today. A lot of dads were out with their kids. It's a pleasure to see them together. First day of summer, too!
When I saw these 2 photos of Sandy I immediately thought of the happy and sad masks, and then I saw he was an actor! Very appropriate. He does look regal in the bottom photo, but I agree that it's nice to see him smiling. Nice to hear he's doing better.
