T G I Freelance

I'm glad it's Friday.

As a freelancer, the weekend makes no real difference to me except that the businesses I frequent will be more crowded for a couple of days. It's not like I have the weekend off. Ask anyone you know who works for themselves and they'll tell you: they don't work less, they work more.

Still, Friday feels like the end of the work week and the weekend feels like free time, and I still feel guilty on Sunday nights because I still feel like I've put off my homework.

What's up for you this weekend?

This is a marvelous shot!

I remember making myself take weekends off... it made me feel like more of a normal working person instead of a crazy workaholic. That's the problem with freelancing -- you aren't sure when to stop working!

Now, weekends are nice because it's family time with all three of us -- but often even more hectic than weekdays. (I understand it's even worse when kids are school age and every weekend has a birthday party to attend...)

I love your "I still feel guilty on Sunday nights because I still feel like I've put off my homework." You too?!
Here in Israel we are lucky to have the Sabbath, 25 hours when no one works and you feel good about it. Plus most people have all of Friday off in order to prepare for Shabbat.
No buses run from Friday afternoon until Sat. night, so I just enjoy hanging around home and yard, chatting with neighbors, eating with my nun friends, hiking in the nature all around the moshav.
Sunday is the beginning of the work week.
What's this wall? Looks like a monastic enclosure. Probably not.
Shabbat shalom, Petrea. Take it easy.

I love those verticals - I'm always such a huge fan of taking an everyday scene and abstracting it like that.
This weekend, I'm recovering from a very busy week of freelance work on top of my day job, but I want to make time to check out the Museum of Branding & Packaging in London - an odd choice maybe but it's been on my list for ages since I picked up a flier last month.
I hope you have a great weekend too!

What's up for me this weekend is enjoying the gathering of far-flung family members who are here to celebrate the 59th anniversary of Tom's 21st birthday!

Wow this is such a stunning photo! The light is perfect, and as SP said, you really captured the verticals.
I'm one of those frantic during the week, relax on the weekend people (but I feel guilty because I don't have kids and the weekends are all about me). However this weekend is all about Mom, so I'll drive east 45 miles and hang out with her.

Petrea, this is really pretty! Mum's coming over for brunch on Sunday - in the garden if it's fine. And aside from that - a bit more relaxation, and inevitably some work.

Laurie, I was out with friends last night and one went over her daughter's schedule for today. I pity them both!

It sounds idyllic, Dina. I should have paid attention to what was in this building, but I was just fascinated by the shadows. It's a business, maybe a dentist's office? On Green Street east of Catalina. Does anyone know?

SP, I'm envious. So many cool little corners to visit in London. Take pictures if they'll allow it.

Looks like family/mom fun for Monica, Katie and Shell. This is the weekend for it. It's going to be hot here. Maybe I can get out and take some pictures.

WOW the shadows here are just great Petrea! I could have used those for my shadows series. Have a bon weekend! I have a ballet recital to attend. I've already clocked a gymnastics "show", a baton "recital", and 2 Grandparents' Day festivities this week. Lord have mercy!

Stunning photograph. I counted nine cast shadows from other cypress trees plus the three visible cypress trees. Neat. (I wouldn't normally count, but I just started reading

Born on a Blue Day, by Daniel Tammet, and he counts (and is a lightning calculator, among other things).

J+P, that's my sweetheart, always making me Google-eyed.

Thanks, Virginia. This was a contender for theme day and I figured I didn't need an excuse to post it.

Good to see you, JT!

Jean, be careful. I've known people who count everything including the steps they take every day. I count pennies, calories and Dracula, but all are futile.

Splendid - really, really wonderful photo. Makes me want to climb into the photo.

Friday eve - good, Saturday eve - best, Sunday eve - :( and I do like my job (most of the time).
I hope I won't have that feeling after I retire.

Love this photo.

I'm going to follow Hometown Pasadena's suggestion and have a Mother's Day picnic in a Pasadena park that I just learned about - Arlington Park.

Really striking photo!

I'm headed to the renaissance faire out in Irwindale tomorrow, and then sleeping in ridiculously late on Sunday before going into the office for a while.

Wonderful photo! We're going to a graduation party this weekend. Hope to have some fun time, some down time after a busy week. And some Mom time via phone.
Happy weekend, all.

Susan you'll love Arlington Garden! I've taken pictures there but nothing that captures its splendor. It's wonderful.

Amy, say hi to my friends Amy, Emily, Dani and Stork. Yup.

Everyone have a happy Mother's Day!

Happy Mother's Day to you to, P. I'll be with mine on the coast on Sunday. I hope our weather holds.

Just took a second look at that great composition. 8^)

I love this photo, Petrea. It's just super.
Nothing planned this weekend. My husband has worked two weeks straight and is off for the weekend so I think it's going to be relaxing.

Thanks Elaine and Lydia. Bon weekend to you!

Love the image and colors in this one! A new favorite. I'll be in Laurie's neck of the woods Sat. evening to see Stan Ridgeway perform for the Eclectic Music Festival and Art Walk. Then it's back to work at 4:30 am Sunday. I'm going to need a nap.

Petrea Burchard said...

4:30 am? Gee, Keith, I thought I was an early riser.
