The clementine tree in our back yard is blossoming. The sweet, fresh smell fills our back yard.
The tree is also buzzing with bees. If Wikipedia's article is correct and the cross-pollination of bees might make my clementines lose their "desirable seedless characteristic, so "bee" it. I've been worried about bees since I started seeing their poor, logy little selves dying on the sidewalks a couple years ago (I've even posted about Colony Collapse Disorder before), and I don't mind a few seeds if it means healthy bees.
In my yard, there's no collapse. The bees are resurrected. We don't have a hive (which is good), just a lot of happy bees who don't seem to mind sharing the blossoms with me.
This is one of those posts I wish you could smell. I wish you could hear it, too. Bzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz....

Your words, and a bit of memory, let me smell and hear your trees and bees. It's quite wonderful.
Seed-shmeed. A little cross pollination has never hurt anyone.
Bees are such dear and amazing little creatures ~ I love listening to the hum of them in our trees. Even though autumn has started, we still have some bees busy in our Geisha Girl outside the back door. {Doesn't smell like your clementine, though, Petrea!}
Love it. I can practically smell the blossoms from my side of town--
I told you about how Bees tried to build a hive in the attic space over our kitchen. Now, I don't have the same romantic feelings when I see bees!
This is a beautiful spring shot, lovely P. And YOU are the bees knees! (I always wanted to use that expression...)
Bees Sneeze, ah choo!.. all that cross pollination...
I hear them. Putting up my seven foot cages today, I was right in the thick of things. We all minded our own business.
Our own buzzzzznezzzzz
Easter happy holidays.
I had to look up Geisha Girl. Pretty.
Laurie, your story is one reason why I'm glad we don't have a hive. They're not defensive here.
Ditto Desiree
I can smell it! Great post.
Ah, California in the spring. Such a pretty photo! I haven't noticed any clementine in NoCal, but there are plenty of orange blossoms in bloom and they smell amazing.
Reminds me of the Pink Martini song:
If tomorrow's sun doesn't shine
At least I'll have my Clementine
Glad to hear you have happy bees in your trees, cross pollinating away.
Nice post.
