There are quite a lot of cabins in our area. You may come across them while hiking in the hills above Pasadena or Sierra Madre. Some are historic and rustic. Many are hard to get to, all are in beautiful places.
This one's in a beautiful place: Altadena. It's easy to get to; the Altadena Hiker and I came across it while hiking on a residential street.
Tomorrow's the last day of our Altadena hike. I've enjoyed this a lot. I thank Karin for showing me so many great places, and especially for being good company.

Great photo Petrea but the reason I am here is to let you know that it is my turn to have tears in my eyes after having read your comment yesterday on PDP...
You have a lovely day ;)
Back at you.
I had a friend with one of these cabins in Red Box Canyon up in Angeles. They are, of course, very basic on the inside, but have gorgeous river rock fireplaces.
Very pretty. I wonder what's it's used for these days.
Thank you, Rose. I would love to be at that picnic this year to give you a hug. I don't think I'll make it but you never know.
Karin, John and I came across some of the historic ones up near Chantry Flats. You can't believe people live in them, but they do. It's a solitary life, something out of a classic romance.
From its proximity to homes and its upkept appearance I'm sure it's used, Margaret. It would make a charming guest house, or an office to be envied, don't you think?
It's hard to tell from this angle, is there some sort of water channel of the far side of the house?
Good eye, Vanda. I'll show you an extension of that tomorrow.
I hate it. It makes me yearn for Fernwood Inn in Big Sur.
I wonder if they have wi-fi.
That would be just the right size for me, but probably too expensive. *sigh*
I love it for the same reason, H.
Susan: probably.
Yes, Elaine, for me too.
I want to go through that orange door.
That looks like a marvelous getaway place; just perfect for a weekend after a hectic work week.
Oh, my dear Petrea. This setting is out of a fairy tale... can't you imagine a story there? Something magical?
I've really enjoyed your hike with Karin, too. And I didn't even have to get tendonitis to see all the sights.
My word: forkers
It is a fanciful place. I'd love to have a cabin to write in.
