Elevator

These roofers told me they had to get their equipment to and from the job via ropes because they didn't have an elevator. I had fun taking pictures of them. They were friendly guys. Resourceful, too, I thought, using ropes to raise and lower their tools. I watched them send down ladders, shovels, brooms and bags to their counterparts at the truck below.

As I post the photo I'm thinking, if the only way to get the equipment up there was with ropes, how did the men get up there? There must have been a stairway. Too much trouble with a ladder, I suppose?

Great perspective, color and subject. You seem to always be at the right place at the right time. Good job!

AH... one of those magical blue skies, too! What a neat shot, Petrea.

Thats the strangest elevator I've ever seen... :-)

...and how did they get back down?!

This is such a fantastic scene!

Could this be the "Stairway to Heaven" that Led Zeppelin talked about?

Awesome! It would have been even funnier if there was someone riding the ladder up to the top. A perfect case of always being prepared with your camera. I missed out on the AMAZING sunset sky last night because I didn't have time to run to get my camera on the way to class.

It is indeed a great shot. Simple , angular, and that bright blue knocks your socks off.

JT: so many right places, so little time.

You know the sky, Laurie. I was lucky to have a big, white wall to show it off against.

Tr3nta: :-) backatchya.

Saretta, I have no idea because I had an appointment and couldn't stay to find out. Stairs. There must have been stairs.

Thank you, Dina.

Ca Pasadena: If so, I should have skipped my appointment.

Ben Ben Ben Ben Ben. You must always carry it. There are a million times when I carry it and don't shoot one picture. Then there's the one time I happen to have it, the shot is right, and it's worth those million times.

Merci Virginia.

You must have missed them scaling the side of the building, Spider Man style!

You have awakened the theatre geek in me and it will keep me from off the drafty elevator for one more day.

Marley, that must be it.

Miss H! I love it! But why are they all white people? (I know. Their hearts are in the right place.)

I'm so glad that's not my job! The heights alone would paralyze me.

I don't know what 2 think about this pic. But, i agree with carrying de cam.

Armed & always prepared 2 shoot! Petrea & Laurie seemed always ready to pull it outta their holster.

Another welcome back to Ann de PIO! And, also to Jill from hibernation over at her Eyelevelpasadena blog, et al. It's good 2 have them back in action.

But I thought this was why God invented cherry pickers! So safe, so easy, so ubiquitous!

Good to see you, Ann.

Thanks for the heads-up, Mike. I always love Jill's photos.

I don't know, Elaine. Budget? Is a cherry-picker expensive? This was not a big-money operation, I'm thinkin'.
