I took this photo of the Richard H. Chambers U.S. Court of Appeals Building the same day as yesterday's, an hour or two later, while at the annual Colorado Street Bridge party.
I couldn't find much on the web about Richard H. Chambers himself, except that he was the judge whose idea it was to bring a Federal courthouse to Pasadena. There's plenty of information about the building, however. Here's a nice gloss on the place, with photos and information. Even a map.
I'm currently on vacation, so responding to comments may happen in an untimely fashion, which means I may not be quick about it and I'll probably be wearing something that's way out of date.

I like this shot, but what stands out to me is the illuminated car under the streetlamp in the lower corner. Really interesting composition!
I hope vacation is treating you well.
Yes, like Ben, that pool of light with the car suggests a personal story being told against the colossus of distant city anonymity.
Ben and Elaine beat me to it! The first thing I thought when I saw this lovely shot was the nice juxtaposition of the personal vs. the City.
I hope the reunion is fun. Will there be pictures? :-)
Well I completely missed the car in the street light and had to revisit your photo. It is really a nice photo. Lovely evening shot.
This is a very atmospheric shot.
I guess Richard is a Chambers of secrets.
Its been said already but my eye was drawn to the lit car in the foreground. A great shot with a sense of enormity.
What a dark night away from the lighting. I always park near the lightpole, too. BTW Petrea...looking forward to seeing you on the AT&T Summer Olympics commerical...Elaine filled us in. Cool! :-)
I'm so glad Ben mentioned that car! It made me click on the photo and examine it more carefully. Nice contrast with the different color light effects you have here Petrea.
(& Uselaine what a way with words!)
I'm wondering if there will be pictures form you trip too. I notice a lot of daily photo people take pics when they are away from home, no pressure though...
: )
Nice shot!
Thank you all so much. Sometimes I have a favorite and I like this one, for the reasons you've mentioned.
I can see I'm going to have to read all the Paris Daily Photo posts I've missed, to see what the heck USElaine said!
I won't be posting pictures from my class reunion for two reasons: one, because it didn't happen in Pasadena, and two: because I took very few. I was a participant rather than an observer for once!
