Thanks for your comments, everyone. It is indeed a lovely room. I'd like to go back. See yesterday's post, Katie. It was Kelly who got me in there.
USElaine, I didn't know anyone else was doing Zen Monday. It would be cool if I'd started something. I hope you're getting a chance to unfray your nerves. Rain would help.
P. - The smoke has lessened, and seems to cycle on and off depending on how much they backburn to the north and south. Now it's the heat that oppresses. Today it topped out at 107F, with more of the same all week. Bummer.
I think I've only done three Zen Mondays so far, but I only note it in the text, not the title. Must be my commitment issues.
Zen Monday's just a thing I made up. My understanding of Zen is pretty basic--the learning is in the experience (translated here as the photo) and not in a lecture (words). There's obviously more to it than that, but that's my attempt here on the blog--to publish a photo for you to experience, and say very little about it. Let you tell me what the photo's about, rather than vice versa.
For this purpose I try to find a photo that can touch an emotional place or say in some way, "I am what I am."

I think I'll try daily Zen then. Nice photo!
If nobody is using that room I'll take it.
Lovely light and lines, all wrapped in a sacred aura.
I had to suspend my participation in Zen Monday this week. Too much excess and flamboyance to work through the pipeline after the weekend.
Don't you just love available light in a space like that? Magnificent.
Very cool room! Love the brick. You must know someone to get a peek into a church attic!

*predicted all week.
Ooh, the light through the window...very nice. I wish it were my room!
Hi, Petrea! Didn't realize there was a Zen Monday, and may do it later on. I've checked out the Zen Daily link...
I love the lighting in this photo, and would be at peace working there.
I too would like to crawl into this attic with a good book. But I don't think I'd read. I'd daydream the day away.

They say if you can talk about zen, you don't understand —in which case they must be wrong.
OK, now I'm confused.
I love all your Zen Mondays, Petrea, and especially this one. Glad you articulated the rationale here in the comment; it helps.
