Crane Shot

There's some construction going on down at the corner of Lake and San Pasqual. Anybody out there know what it's going to be? Right now it's all colorful cranes, hot sun and noise. (Though it's probably quiet today.) Near shopping and CalTech, it could end up being part of either one, or neither. You can awfully get close-up to it if you want to.

I live right across the street from it. I think it's going to be a new condo development. They were working on the underground parking for some time, and now they have what appear to be columns above ground up.

What did we ever do before we had the web?

Hi Petrea!
I love how the sun is peeking into the upper left corner of this photo. & your new photo is so cute. Did you do the sketch?

My favorite thing about this marvelous image with its plumb line askew and its clean height and its mystery, is the clear blue sky. Ours is so smoky today, it looks like LA in the 60s!

I used to stand beneath cranes for shade. Now I get a tan from my LCD. It's … confusing.

You?

Ah, progress...

We have a big development going in right in the middle of our downtown, except for the fact that they dug a huge hole 1/2 the size of a city block about 3 stories deep, then ran out of money or can't get the building permission they need or something, because the hole has been there for 18 months now. Very unsightly and annoying, but what can you do?

Thankfully, it is so deep that you can't see most of it! But hopefully it will get resolved soon.

Hopefully your buildings will get done sooner than ours! :)

Anonymous and docker (David), that's the one. Thanks. For those of you not from here, we have a lot of these "mixed use developments" going up in the downtown area. They generally have living spaces, store or office spaces and parking. They've been controversial as people complain they bring extra traffic.

Lily Hy, it's my bad drawing of Boz.

USElaine, I heard firefighters are battling over 500 wildfires are in Northern California right now! I'm sure many of them are small, but jeez! smoke city!

Bernie, I used to go to the library more often. I still like it there, though.

Christie, it sounds like your development didn't exactly get developed.
