Inside the Cinema

I posted about Cinema 21 April 14th. Here's an additional photo I took that day, as I tried to see into the depths of the building with my camera.

Ancient ruins transport my imagination; I fantasize about the people who built, lived and worked in them thousands of years ago. When I look at a ruin like Cinema 21, which isn't ancient but merely old and tired, my imagination works in a different way. I don't think so much of those who once went there, but of what it would be like to fix it up if I could.

More photos here.

This photograph is like a frame within a frame. The doorway/ (frame) is framed by the window which is framed by the border of the picture itself. I don't know if anyone sees this but it is a photograph that drew me in. I wish I could describe it better. Such a unique photo desrves thoughtful commentary.
I too think of old buildings much the same way Petrea. My house was built in the very early 1900's & I have been fixing it up ever since I moved in here.
PS-I now have the GF too! Yay for me!

I remember when you posted the photos of the cinema. I guess I am like you, I think of what it could be again. I also get worried that someone will decide that more parking is needed or something similar.

I think that's why I like urban ruins too - just imagining what it was like when it was new, and what life was like for the people who were there. Your broken window viewpoint realy piqued my curiosity to take a closer look.

Great photo - you give just enough of a glimpse of the interior that I now want to go wandering around inside! I hope someone can do something good with this space.

And GF congrats Lily!

Yay for Lily Hydrangea! Thank you for the thoughtful commentary.

Well said, Marlow.

Perish the thought, Jim! We have hopes someone will have the money to renovate.

Thanks, Knoxville Girl. I wonder about the hole, too. Bullet?

My thoughts exactly, Katie. I want to get in there. Except for (maybe) rats.

HAH! I have the same fantasy about that building. It's so big and weird.
