Footprints

It's getting warm here. There's less water down by Devil's Gate Dam every day. We savor our walks there this time of year. We won't go much in summer because there's little shade and the sun is too punishing. We'll have to find another place to go.

In this photo I detect the prints of duck, dog, and...some large creature. I'd make a lousy tracker.

This is such an appealing photo, with familiar sensations of watching ripples and examining the recent past in the mud or sand. Cool composition too.

I like the runnels in the sand, and the way the water has carved out channels; nicely framed shot. We have a lot of dams around East TN due to the Tennessee Valley Authority work in the 30s. What body of water is this dam regulating?

Oh, I thought you took a field trip to the Malibu Lagoon! Looks just like this! My favorite are those duck prints - too cute! Have a great weekend!

Love this photo! I don't like that it signals the beginning of the dry season here in California though. The feet make for a nice way to judge perspective, although without them it would be a great abstract photo!

Nice photo, is the large creature the feet I see at the top of the photo?!

Thank you all, I'm glad folks like this one.

Knoxville girl, Devil's Gate doesn't regulate an actual body of water. We have mountain run-off from the San Gabriels each spring, and that's what the dam regulates. By summer, that run-off is usually dried up until next year.

Katie, this one made me think of you (ground level, as it were).

Tanya, yes, that would be the large creature, about to make new prints in my mud.

I like your composition in this image ... leads the eye to the one thing that is both responsible and slightly out of place. The intrusion of the partial person makes this a much stronger photo. Nicely done.

Didn't chuck pefley sum up this photo well?
I wish I could think of something that clever to say - but it hurts if I try!
I just really like it.

Thank you, Chuck. I think I'd appreciate your critique even if you didn't like it, because you say it so well.

I don't know if I really mean that.

Thanks, Ararat.
