Blair Witch Exercise Project

Just south of Devil's Gate Dam is a military-looking exercise area. I've never seen the "Blair Witch Project" because I don't like scary movies, but my husband John said this looked like something out of the movie. It looks like climbing this device would require serious muscle.

I call this an exercise area, but I've never seen anyone using it. I'm kind of interested in trying the swings, though.

The first one looks challenging, the second one looks like part of an endurance contest, that I would lose.

Yikes! I am with Jim. I know my limits! This frightens me as much as the movie you mentioned!

Thank you so much for visiting! The train is running all the way to Elburn now. I imagine it won't be long before DeKalb is the next stop!

That first shot is a beautiful photographic composition. Well done!

I've noticed that you have a good eye for vertical compositions. I've seen this site many times myself but your photos makes me want to go back and hang out a little longer. There is a police station nearby that advertises for recruits. Maybe it's connected in some way.

You and me both, Jim. Kelly too, apparently.

Kelly, the train used to stop in DeKalb when I was a little girl. It stopped running some time in the 1960s I think. Good to hear it may get going again.

Hello, David! (I just took at look at your blog and found candy. I almost didn't come back.) Thanks for the compliment.

Palm, thanks. Maybe it comes from being--er--not tall. I'm often looking up. I thought that station might be connected somehow. There's also some sort of military building under the Colorado Street Bridge. Their personnel might use it.

Sounds like you might be hearing from Homeland Security posting photos like this. Hey, that's all right, stand, uh, tall!

I love these photos as abstract art! I'm less thrilled to think about the physical stamina it would take to actually do this little exercise course. Never saw Blair Witc,h but easy enough to scare me by telling me to do some pull-ups on these rings!

Me again! Just realised I left you a comment about Lynn on your previous photo. Sorry about that :)

uselaine, if they don't want me taking pictures they shouldn't leave it out where I can find it.

That reminds me, Katie, if you visit, bring your hiking shoes.

Marley, you're welcome to comment on my blog anywhere you like.

Your husband must be a pretty funny guy, but can he do this?

[Does something amazing.]

Can he, huh? Bet he can't.

You mean like this, Bernie?

[climb the Blair Witch Exercise thingy?]

Erm, I don't think so. I'll get back to you.

I'll absolutely bring my hiking boots when I visit! Looks like there are lots of trails to enjoy (as long as I'm not required to stop and do little exercise courses like these!).

This is certainly unique. I am not much into torture exercise, but I'm sure we have enough masochists to take full advantage of it. :-) Seriously though... great photos.

"Louis" will take a pass on this form of execise....

No wonder it's called "Blair Witch!"

No requirement but fun, Katie.

Irina, thank you. And your comment made me laugh. Until I found this contraption I'd thought all Pasadenans (Pasadeneites?) were hedonists.

Dear Louis, it won't be expected of you. The grazing nearby, however, is fine.

The first image reminds me a bit of Tic-Tac-Toe. I'll get in the same line as Louis, thank you very much :)

Oh cool. It's like the ROPES or Challenge Course at Heifer Ranch. But we went through it in harness with someone on the belaying rope, just in case.
Thanks for the memory-jerking photos!
