Ghost Photos

I posted the other day about the Fenyes Mansion at the Pasadena Museum of History. I liked the idea of "Music in the Mansion," a series of opera concerts performed in the Victorian rooms of this 102-year-old Pasadena treasure. It's the type of entertainment the mansion's first owner, Eva Scott Fenyes, enjoyed. I find the idea haunting. In a good way.

Letty from Ararat Daily Photo (that's Ararat, Australia) entered a comment on that post: "Can you sneak in and take some secret photos? Go on - I dare ya!" From what I know about Letty she wasn't kidding. But I'm too chicken, plus my cat burglar outfit's at the dry cleaners'. But the Museum staff were nice enough to invite me to tonight's kick-off concert, so I'm gonna go hear me some opera singin' and I don't have to sneak!

If they let me take a photo (and if it's good enough) I'll post it tomorrow. And there will be photos of the mansion's interior in the future, that much I can promise. I'm told there are ghosts in the mansion. I don't believe in ghosts, but I'd love to capture one on film anyway.

Hi Petrea,
It's always best when people who don't believe in ghosts get to capture them on film! I will be checking in tomorrow. Good luck...

Pont Girl: Another spot you might like to check out next time you're in town (if you like Victorian mansions, of course).

Ararat: Aw, I should sign up with you for training. I've tried your "don't-look-where-the-camera's-
shooting" method, so far with no success. But I'm not giving up.

Lily Hy: I don't know if I'll be allowed to shoot tonight. If I see a ghost you may have to just trust me on it!

Uma Por Dia, I'm glad to see you. I had the idea you wouldn't be around for a while (school?). Your blog is looking wonderful.

Is that a curved door?

Great photo, makes me want to see inside even more! Such a regal looking place. Hope you have a wonderful time at the concert tonight. Do tell all tomorrow, and maybe we'll even get to see photos from inside (if, of course you can obtain "photos by legitimate means" -- that cracks me up!).

Jim, it's hard to say. There are three of them, with furniture parked in front of them inside so they're not regularly used. The porch isn't situated so you could easily step out from them. I'd say "door-sized bay window."

Katie, I got to take some photos (sans singers) the day before the concert, and will be allowed to take more at some point. Woohoo! A night shoot would be really fun, but hard to light. Will ghosts pose in daylight?
