Nobody Coming

This little shack stands at the intersection of Green Street and Chester Avenue. From this angle, it looks like not much goes on there. Then you come around the front and see this:

I couldn't find much about it on the web except this, which is fascinating enough for me. The Karmann Ghia's gone and now they're selling an SUV. The place is still "maintained, but not used," as Mr. Wray says. And he's right; the place looks like a designer has fixed it up to be a painting--or a movie set.

Hi Petrea,

Will you be joining the masses tonight on Pasadena Art Night?

Hi Palm,
I'll be out taking pictures with my little Olympus. I think we're starting at the Art Center College of Design. Don't know where we'll end up after that. You?

Originally it was a gas station, but for many years it was a pretty good little taco stand. The current owner bought my painting of it I'm pleased to say, but I haven't got to talk with him about the palace.

Hi William, I love your great blogs and artwork. I hope people who click the link will nose around there.

That's wonderful (and fitting) that the current owner of this place bought your painting of it. If he/she tells you any history, please let me know.

My strategy is to attend all the museums that at any other time would cost me.
You won't be disapointed with the Art Center exhibition. Hide your camera in your purse until you clear the gallery attendants.

I was going to mention the taco stand; glad William beat me to it. I spent many happy hours there on my way home from work with their gorgeous little mushroom quesadillas.

The cute old fashioned gas pumps are a recent addition, though. ;-)

I don't know, Elizabeth. I should think those mushroom quesadillas would be sorely missed...

It looks wonderful. I love the old pumps. Terrell has quite a few old stations, but they have other uses now days.

Love the link, Petrea - really interesting!
What a shame our petrol stations don't look like this anymore!
