I've mentioned before what pretty alleys we have around here, and not just in Old Town. We have ugly ones, too, but I admit I'm a Pasadena chauvinist and I haven't photographed them. (Yet. I'm sure I will.)
I think this one, off Mentor Avenue near Boston Court, is ravishing.

Without the modern truck, this picture would look quite vintage! I love how you captured three different shades of blue, including the truck!
I hope you're not saying this is an ugly alley Petrea -- I love this shot! Fabulous faded paint and all the colors and that blue sky. We don't have many alleys in Berkeley; yet again you're enticing me to go south. The idea of an alley tour of Pasadena sounds like the kind of activity I would totally go for!
No, I think it's lovely! In several downtown areas the alleys got cleaned up--but not completely, so the old paint shows through and there's this wonderful feeling of the present walking side by side with the past.
I love the old garage door and smaller door thats part of it. Does the garage door slide open? I guess the 967 1/2 is the address to the back? Neat picture, I like the out of the way places.
We don't have back alleys in our town. But in the rural areas we have back roads which often lead to some very interesting sights.
I don't know if the garage door slides open, Jim, but it probably does. Looks like people use it.
Hi Ken; I grew up in a town with only a few alleys. So I know what you mean about those back roads.
i did a whole shoot in front of this door... bad new thought, the whole alley is about to get a make over..
J--that IS bad news! It's so pretty back there--well, at least the blue door is pretty. A great place to shoot photos.
