Zen Monday: #204

Nobody likes Mondays, but I hope a little Zen will brighten yours.

It's the day when you tell us what the photo's about, so please leave your comments.

  1. I don't have anything zenish to say. I just wanted to say what a fabulous photograph it was.

Not something I'd hang on my wall ;-) but I love the light and contrast and the starkness of it. I don't think fruit would have the same punch to it.

    just...wow

  4. "Blinded by the light,
    Revved up like a deuce,
Another runner in the night...with this very unpleasin',
    Sneezin' and wheezin,
The calliope crashed to the ground..."

  5. LA is full of actors. This guy is playing possum. He is just waiting for the director to yell "CUT."

  6. Always thought it was "douche," Trish, which didn't make sense. Of course you're right, yet it still doesn't make sense.

  8. Very funny comments, especially John and PA's. I can't compete so will just ask - what's the name of the beetle? Because I have them in my house too - dead and alive.

  9. That is a great photo, but wow, it heightened my existential angst.

  10. Oy, this is my brain today. Love it. Buggy subject aside, this somehow made me think of the light in certain Renaissance paintings!

  11. "One morning, as Gregor Samsa was waking up from anxious dreams, he discovered that in his bed he had been changed into a monstrous verminous bug. He lay on his armour-hard back and saw, as he lifted his head up a little, his brown, arched abdomen divided up into rigid bow-like sections. From this height the blanket, just about ready to slide off completely, could hardly stay in place. His numerous legs, pitifully thin in comparison to the rest of his circumference, flickered helplessly before his eyes." [Steal from the best.]

  12. Bellis, we always have called them "June bugs" but since it's July.....
and they are all over @ our house too, but strangely not until the last week or so. So they must be July bugs

  14. Because they can't help themselves and always go to the light, this, adapted for bugs ...

"Do not go gentle into that good [l]ight,
    Old age should burn and rave at close of day;
Rage, rage against the dying of the [n]ight."

    And I'm standing behind that.

  16. I'm glad you liked the picture. Your comments are all so entertaining today. I feel kind of bad for the poor guy. I turned off the porch light to try to give him a break but the poor things can't help themselves.

Sometimes you're the windowsill, sometimes you're the July bug.
