Favorite Place in Glendale

My Burbank friend and I have finally found the perfect middle ground: Favorite Place (that's its name) in Glendale.

I'm not a foodie. I'm not a restaurant reviewer. I can't describe the delicate blabbedy blah on the palate or the minglings of fine spices in the this and the that. What I can tell you is the food is fresh and tasty and unusual, the service is not just friendly but downright sweet, and the atmosphere is all charm.

From a glimpse of the outside you could be fooled into thinking you're about to enter a greasy-smelling diner to sit at a Formica counter and drink coffee that's been sitting on the burner since last night. But don't judge a restaurant by its storefront. And do call ahead for reservations.

Favorite Place has unself-conscious class. Also they have rose petal lemonade. Who else has rose petal lemonade?

  1. "Lunch served Monday through Saturday, 11:30am to 4:00pm
    Closed Mondays and Sundays"

Are you seeing what I'm seeing? : ) I wish I lived in Glendale because I'm always looking for a good restaurant.

  2. Yeah, it's pretty much a gourmet lunch and tea place, J.J. It would be fun to do tea there one of these days.

Of course Dive has his choice of tea places.

  3. If it wasn't for the odd way they spell Favourite, it could be a tea shoppe in England.

Your photo's so beautiful, it tempts me to go there - they should add it to their website.

  4. Bellis, it's terribly sad but we can't all be English. Believe me. I've tried.

    Almost, Speedway, but I managed.

Unfair, J, you have prior knowledge.

  5. We must be telepathic, Petrea. I was looking at your blog and your comment came thru! How about that. I couldn't resist the photo's thumbnail and now I'm even hungrier. This is definitely my sort of food and it would be even more wonderful with you across the table - you and yours and Boz, that is...

  7. It's new to me too. It looks charming. Did you eat that flower petal on your salad?

  8. Wouldn't that be fun, Jilly? I wish I could take Boz on a plane.

I don't know Glendale very well, either, Steve, but I like new territory.

I did, Susan. I ate every bite.

  10. It IS pretty. I said to the proprietor something about it being "girly." She said the place gets a lot of business people, men and women, on weekdays.

  12. Looks pretty darn good. Can a body get a glass of pinot gris (California grown of course) to go along with that great looking salad? Mmmmmmm.

  13. I don't remember if there was wine on the menu. And the website link isn't working at the moment. Hmm.

  14. Flowers beautify surroundings and add a bit of class to the meal...delightful "presentation" of meal and photograph. Decided to try my hand at edible flowers for salads this year.

  15. Never heard of it, but it looks good. I believe, however, that they may not be wise to so clearly show that they won Best of Glendale every year from 2000 to 2008. Makes one wonder what has happened in 2009, 2010, and 2011.

  16. This is a test comment, left by Mr. Petrea Burchard, because my wife can't sign into Blogger right this minute. She says hi, BTW.

  17. Are you going to grow them, Kate?

I'll bet they just haven't updated the website, Mister Earl. I haven't found another spot this good in Glendale.

    Thanks, J. I think it's working now.

  23. It's at 115 Wilson, between Brand and Orange. A little storefront you'd never notice if you didn't know it was there. Park in the lot on Orange just north of Wilson and walk over. Call me if you're going! They have Rose Petal Everything.
