Plein air painting is a southern California tradition. (It's a tradition anywhere there's lush scenery and decent weather.)To me, a plein air painter can be scenery, too. (Though it depends somewhat on the painter.)
I'm so glad to have a dog who needs walking.
Excellent photography of a painter at work in his office!
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad I know a homo sapien who appreciates art.
Just beautiful..I wonder how the painter described this scene..
ReplyDeleteThat is just gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photo Petrea! Sonoma has an annual Plein Air Art festival in May.
ReplyDeleteVery pretty.
ReplyDeleteDitto on the dog walking.

I'm glad, too, Cafe. (I think you know several such homo sapiens.)
ReplyDeleteI didn't have the nerve to interrupt him, Aysegul, but it's an interesting question.
Thank you, Becky. We walked by that spot, it's just north of the drinking fountain and Johnson's Rock.
Hi Ange! Nice to see you. Sounds like May is a good time to visit Sonoma.
LL, you know what I'm talkin' about.
How much did you have to pay that guy with the hat? Well if you can't paint em, snap em. THat's my motto.
ReplyDeleteLURVELY!

great image!
ReplyDeleteYou're good.
ReplyDeleteAw, merci merci merci! I'm kinda partial to this pastoral scene.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous. Completely September (uh, October) scene with all that gold.
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful, misty, moody photograph!
ReplyDeleteMarvelous photo -- a scene a painter would love...
ReplyDeleteHe must have been painting the gold, Linda.
ReplyDeleteHi Jacob, welcome. I'm glad you like it.
If only he could have seen himself in it, Ms. M.! I was too shy to tell him I was photographing him.
I like this one a lot. What a beautiful, nature-made palette.
ReplyDeleteThis looks like California as its been for the past thousand years - except for the last hundred.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous, really, really gorgeous - could be Jeremy Irons in Brideshead Revisited.
ReplyDelete(PS - I also have a dog that needs walking...only I don't take advantage of it.)
Thanks, Margaret. Palette is a good choice of words here.
ReplyDeleteRight down to the hat, don't you think, K?
Tash, your dog would love to go on your photo excursions. Admittedly, Boz is extremely easy going. He's learned to tolerate it when I lag behind to shoot.
