Altadena Hike

One of the many pleasures of blogging is other bloggers. If you're a lucky blogger you get to meet some of your favorite bloggers in person. And I am one lucky blogger.

Not long ago I took a hike through Altadena with the Hiker. I lived in Altadena for almost two years, in this very century, and still hadn't found all the places she showed me. All of them, including this secret spot, are within a few minutes' walking distance of where I lived.

I got some nice shots during our hike. I'll post them over the next few days. I think you'll like them, but unfortunately, you'll lack the pleasure of Karin's company.

  1. My only comment here is that this is a very funny posting, for some reason.

  2. It looks like a nice secluded spot.

  3. Oh, I must go here sometime. I'm glad you two had fun. One of these days I must meet Karin face to face!

  4. Beautiful spot! My eyes aren't too good this early in the morning, is that a chair next to the tree?

  5. Press on regardless of comments from the bleachers ...

  6. Very nice... but the bench seems awfully lonely...

    Poor bench... :(

  7. It is secluded, and yes, it's a chair/bench. It's on private property, so we didn't sit. (That's why it's a lonely bench.)

  8. Oh goody! Yes, you captured this place. Wait til they see the catacombs.

  9. I was going to say that Mother Nature is the best landscaper ever until I saw the comment about "private property."

  10. You are lucky to have so many pretty spots to explore so close to home. I have a Big Lots near me!

  11. Karin, I want to see the catacombs!

  12. I love the looks of this spot! And you've certainly piqued my interest about catacombs....

  13. Amazing how we miss some of the most beautiful spots, almost literally in our backyards sometimes.

The chair, while lonely---makes me think of sitting in Eaton Canyon on a warm summer afternoon. In the shade with a tall cool glass of something to quench my thirst, listening to the sounds of the canyon!

Glad you're making the effort to get out and about and show us some pretty cool stuff. We've decided to do something similar---even if it is a short afternoon jaunt, just to explore!

  14. Hiker, look what you made me do. Now I have to go spelunking just to satisfy everybody.

(I think Karin was kidding about the catacombs. But I'll go look.)

Margaret, this is Karin's hood (and not far from Susan C.). Poor, poor me. I had to drive there.

  15. No, you know, the catacombs by the wildwood. Ok, maybe they're not like the ones in Rome, but good enuf for Altadena.

  16. don't mind Petrea. We had a brief conference call and she now remembers the Altadena catacombs. TK.

  17. We always used to call them the kittycombs so I was confused.

  21. We have an active blogging community here. There have been several get-togethers where I've had the opportunity to meet local bloggers and strike up friendships. It's most rewarding and I highly recommend it.
