Because

Because it's Wednesday.
Because sometimes I want to be someone else somewhere else, and because I'm glad to be me right here and right now.
Because there are adventures I will never have. And because I've had plenty.

  2. Fortunate is the woman who can say that, Petrea.
The locked door vs. the old Suzuki ready to roar--how fitting for your feelings this Wednesday.

  3. Well the night's busting open
These two lanes will take us anywhere
We got one last chance to make it real
To trade in these wings on some wheels

  7. All so true. Because is a valid reason so often, but equally often overlooked.

  9. Ah Petrea my kindred soul, you said a mouthful!

Lovely post and accompanying image. Will you please write a novel already? I adore the spare way you can convey a universe of feelings.

  14. It is a little Zen, Ted. I'm glad y'all like it. I'm kinda partial to it. The shot evoked that in me. Leave it to Dina to know what kind of bike it is! I hadn't noticed.

Hello Niar, it's very nice to meet you! Welcome.

Laurie, what am I doing at those coffee shops? (Well--this week my column is due.) But most of the time I'm pounding out the current draft...and thank you for asking, you made my day.

  16. Column, what column? Do you write something regularly? How can we read it?!
    I second Laurie's comment.

  18. Yes, Jilly, we are fortunate.

Dina, I write a column for an actors' website called Nowcasting.com. It's a membership site, but usually my most recent column is available for 30 days. The next one will be published November 19th, then my final new column goes up 12/17. I'm moving on after four years, but they'll continue to reprint my stuff.
