Very basically, a Zen student learns from meditation or experience as opposed to a class or lecture. (For a brief definition of Zen, see the second paragraph of Wikipedia's article.)
Its all a BS trick by the global elite to pit Americans VS Americans. Screw the party system... I love all you people.

Oh, this is a great photo! It reminds me of the kind my grandmother dragged me to when I was little, and I had to sit through what seemed like hours while she got her hair done.

ReplyDeleteMy mom had a portable hair dryer back in the 60s when big old curlers were still the status quo of Middle America (not Middle Earth, as in yesterday's photo). I remember as a child, having to sit under that infernal machine for too many wasted hours. So I offer the Zen chant: my brains are baking, my brains are baking.

Bibi, it's Zen because the photo gave you an experience, which you shared with us. At least I think that can be Zen. If George Clooney was passing by I should have been outside with the camera, though.
Laurie, Lao Tzu may have had this spot in mind, but I'm thinking it was a different "spot" entirely. A lovely poem.
Knoxville Girl, we had two of those things. They folded up and weighed as much as a full suitcase. I baked my brains while reading. I'm quite sure my hair would have dried as quickly had I sat with my book on the porch in the breeze.

ReplyDeleteYou must check out "Scissors Paper Rock" salon on Allen and New York Drive! Not only does it have the retro dryers, the chairs you sit in while being styled are from an old barbershop- including the built-in ash trays!

Leslie--plus the salon is by Patti Cakes, which recommends it even more. I wonder if she'll let me take photos if I don't get a haircut. I'm loyal to Idette at Aderon Salon. I love my haircut.
