Greg, the forest is still closed, as you probably know, but I didn't until Sunday. The list of closures was taken down from inci-web so I assumed the Angeles National Forest was open but it's not. This was in a stand of woods not far from JPL before the official entrance to the forest.

Wow, thanks, V. I like the darkness of it, too. Now that I have the Canon I can shoot some darker stuff and I want to work on that. And happy birthday to you!

Oh, I assumed the photo was taken in town. If this from our local mountains it is an Alder tree (Alnus rhombifolia) - same family as Birch and they both have the little cones that are in the photo.
