At first I thought "bushes? isn't it kept in a special cabinet at the temple?" So I looked it up. More like protecting the people from themselves than the literal meaning I was thinking of. From the examples I read, I would guess it stems from the days when education was the realm of the clergy, and people had less access to information than we do now. (This is from my five minutes of accessing that information, as opposed to years of study...)Petrea Burchardhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13043950465171821852noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1067046564433930606.post-41321161457807837282008-06-21T12:52:00.000-07:002008-06-21T12:52:00.000-07:00This is rather bizarre, no?I've worked atop some p...This is rather bizarre, no?
I've worked atop some pretty tall ladders but you wouldn't find me on that contraption.
Have you heard about "making a hedge around the Torah"?Dinahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03461925401870320466noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1067046564433930606.post-12106475115024685132008-06-20T18:21:00.000-07:002008-06-20T18:21:00.000-07:00Pascal Jim, I'm laughing. However, the little park at the southwest corner is lovely.

Pont Girl, in Ken's garden I was so thunderstruck all I could articulate were such mumblings as "wow," and "gee," and "I love basil." It was, as you say, awesome.

I don't know, Lydia, I'm just so sick of that picture. I had to come up with something. I'm on the look-out for a new profile pic.

Har har, Elaine. Ken is hedging his best!

Right, freefalling, don't whip the horses (though I'm sure the posh boys never got whipped, either). Jail, however, might be a good idea.

Me either, Chuck. Yesterday was hot, too. But as healthy as that hedge is, Ken has it beat.

Hee, Christie, I think Ken's got enough to do with his own plot of land. But if he reads the comments here today he'll know there's an opening...Petrea Burchardhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13043950465171821852noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1067046564433930606.post-2679084003853686102008-06-20T17:43:00.000-07:002008-06-20T17:43:00.000-07:00My parents have a 400 foot hedge like this around ...My parents have a 400 foot hedge like this around their backyard, but not that tall!! At the time the neighbourhood was terrorized by a hedge-burning firebug. Some of those hedges were planted 100 years - it was so distressing to see the hearts burnt out of them.
The firebugs turned out to be boys from a very posh and expensive private school.
They should have been horse-whipped (although I don't condone whipping of actual horses).freefallinghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08863000229609701796noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1067046564433930606.post-75782509503568434342008-06-20T14:24:00.000-07:002008-06-20T14:24:00.000-07:00I thought there were laws about such tiny children...I thought there were laws about such tiny children being put to work! ;^) That's what you call hedge fun!USelainehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15551995221350532168noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1067046564433930606.post-25779897692079401702008-06-20T12:48:00.000-07:002008-06-20T12:48:00.000-07:00Well now.
