Garage Week

The spring event you've all been waiting for is finally here! It's Garage Week on Pasadena Daily Photo!

Let's celebrate!

I would categorize this garage as "pretty." Pasadena has many pretty garages. Either that or I have strange taste. Or both! I have a load* of garage pictures, so let's explore a week of garages: pretty ones, strange ones, and pretty strange ones.

I even have a Zen garage for Monday.

*I mean it. I have a lot of garage pictures. Be nice, or we'll do two weeks.

Ooo, Ooo! I love garages.
This one's a doozy, Petrea. Gorgeous faded colours, lovely lop-sided asymmetry and of course the British flag.

This sounds like an interesting project. I'm looking forward to your postings.

"Garage" …? What're you—French?

I love its 'Union Jack' doors!

I hadn't noticed the Union Jack. Wow! Garage Week is better than I thought!

And thank you for the link, JS.

I love detached garages and this is a beauty. Definitely has personality.

This can't be in Pasadena - that Union Jack door would never have been per-mitted. They give home owners such a hard time over the shape, size and appearance of their car holes. (or car hall? - I couldn't quite catch it. Thanks for the early morning laugh, John.)

"Personality." Thanks, Bayside, that's the word I was looking for.

Bellis, "car hole" is American English. "Car hall" is the British. I'm surprised you didn't know this.

My friend from London says "ga-ridge," which always makes me smile. I didn't realize we had a French pronunciation.

Not at all, I love seeing pretty garages (and/or garden sheds) and imagining ways to make them even prettier or funkier...or into cool small living quarters a la ships' cabins. I love the look of this one. (Now, could someone fit a bed/desk/wardrobe thingie in there?)

Chieftess, I see this as an antique.

Right, Susan. I wonder how the Aussies say it?

Lulu, you've tapped into one of my fantasies: converting our garage to a home office.

this sounds like a fascinating series of photos! Stand-alone garages can be very funky and interesting.

I love the side-by-side garages shared by two households. One on Belvidere and one on Hudson. I never saw them before moving to Pasadena. Great series of pics!

Petrea Burchard said...

I can't picture that one, Betty. I'll have to have a peek with my camera.

They grow pretty fast when they're young, Patrizzi, but don't know if that continues throughout their lifetime. We had a couple of huge, gorgeous Chinese Elms in our front yard in Van Nuys. They're beautiful trees.

I meant there is a shared garage on Hudson, just north of Belvidere, and another one on Belvidere, just east of El Molino. I see my statement may have sounded like one half of a garage was on H. and the other H on Belvidere. Interesting idea. ;)
