After several days of rain--a lot, for us--sunny skies are predicted for the immediate future. I like rain. I'm a homebody; to cuddle up in a blanket and read, pretending it's actual winter outside, is an old-fashioned pleasure for me.
Boz, our dog, does not like rain. This is a problem, as his bathroom facilities are outside. He won't go. He won't won't won't. He curls up in his towels (he owns a large collection) and it seems like he's pouting. But really, he's listening.
The moment he hears the rain stop he begins to murph. (This is how he expresses himself vocally--we haven't heard him bark since about 2005.) "Murph, murph," he says, repeating himself until we get what he's trying to tell us.
A family walk ensues. And discoveries.

Every dog I had did the same thing!. One even paced back and forth, panting and whimpering at the same time!. BTW I hear they can hold their bladder for 12 hrs... We had one stubborn one who did and once he went out that leg was raised for eternity.
Sounds like Boz has the right idea, stay dry!
Gorgeous capture! I love rain too.
Those raindrops look like peas in a pod.
Such a delicate, fleeting image. Beautiful.
Tommy does the same thing. Absolutely hates the rain.
Love the pictures: The visual and the verbal.
A gorgeous photo, such delicate raindrops. (And Boz murphs - that is the most adorable pooch sound I've 'heard'!:)
I was thinking about this picture. I don't wear much jewelry, but if I could wear this as a necklace, I would.
The "leg raised for eternity" is exactly it. Once they finally get outside, what a relief! Poor things. They were once wolves but they bear little resemblance now. Must be about the coat. Some dogs barely notice rain.
To its eternal shame, the Oxford English Dictionary doesn't list "murph" as "the sound Boz makes after rain."
I shall personally campaign for its inclusion in the next edition to put the world to rights.
Thank you for checking, Dive. Naturally, I simply assumed.
I think those raindrops would make the perfect necklace for the Queen of the Fairies. It's a beautiful photo.
I love the drops that look like inverted snow globes - without the snow.
The queen of the fairies could wear it without losing any drops, don't you think, Bellis?
Roberta, no snow is one of my favorite things about living here.
Such a "jewel" of a photo! Lovely....
The dogs I had years back did not like rain either; they didn't like walking on the wet grass to "do their duty". And one of them was a retriever that LOVED to swim....
Oh, I know! Boz just loves the ocean. Go figure.
Poor Boz. I wouldn't want to go outside in the rain to use the facilities either. Lovely photo, Petrea!
Thank you, Shell!
Ohhhh...I like this one Petrea!!!
