It Doesn't Take Much

Boz doesn't care about petty politics. He doesn't know about choices, good or bad. He likes to run in open spaces and Johnson Field is fine with him just as it is.

"Boz," I said, "the field is a dumping ground for silt!"

Boz likes silt.

  2. Trish, it does my heart good to see him so happy.

I don't know what to think about the silt.

    Alex, I agree!

  3. Love to see a performance of the Boz Dog Doo-Dah Band!

  4. Cliff, although Boz is musical he's not enamored of crowds. I'll be happy to entertain you with a one-dog parade.

He's happiest when he's running, Margaret. Either that or when his belly is being rubbed. I guess that makes him pretty typical.

  5. I love Boz because he'll be moseying around, minding his own business, then out of nowhere, he has a sudden impulse to cut a rug.

  6. Mmmm … Silt.
Hoorah for happy Boz! What a great post, Petrea. I came home from work all pooped and stressed and there's Boz leaping around in the silt and cheering me the hell up.
Give him a thank you hug from me.

  7. That's Boz, Karin. Moody and impulsive. Like a starlet or a rich girl. I don't know where he gets it.

I'm glad he cheered you up, Dive. He does that for me all the time. I'll go pet him for you right now. You know dogs, hugging puts them off.

  9. I wonder what it is about dogs that it makes us so happy to see them happy. Boz's unbridled joy can release me from almost any worry or concern. When he bounds across the veldt my heart bounds with him.

  10. I love Boz's version of Martha's Graham's
ballet "Applachian Spring." Eh, so it's fall ... a dog's exuberance is a "simple gift."

  11. Instead of trying to have a Zen-like outlook on life, I think I'll try to be Boz-like - just go along with whatever happens and enjoy it! I was sad the ground squirrels lost their homes because of the silt, but Boz gained a running field and that makes me happy. Great action photos - he's cantering!

  12. Run Boz Run! There are days when I like my dog better than I like some people. Man's best friend.

  13. Boz enjoys his gifts, Speedway, and they are simple, but that's all he needs.

Nature will out, Bellis. It doesn't know we're here and it doesn't care.

    I hear that, Steven.

  16. Such awesome photos. In the top one Boz looks positively puppy-like! I wonder if the secret to having this sort of energy and exuberance is having a bed in every room.

  17. Katie: sort of. It's plenty of exercise, something fun to chew on and long naps in the sun. The sun tends to move, so one needs mobile sleeping spots.

  18. I think he looks like a hood ornament—say, from an Isotta-Franschini … bronzed and idealized: the very epitome of aerodynamic caninity.

wv: manur … about which, 'nut said.

  19. Well, he also looks like the bronze of a leaping deer in the Huntington library. And the photos are unusual, because it looks like you got views of him from two directions at the same time.

  20. In any case, he looks like art to me.

    Hi Elisabeth, welcome. I suppose it's a trade-off, isn't it?

  23. Chieftess, I think he does. He gets these urges for dogness, when nothing will do but an afternoon with doggy friends.

Elaine, he'd recognize you as a friend right away.

  25. Such exuberance. I love you, Boz. I wish silt had that effect on me.

  26. All things "dirt" have that effect on him.
