This is the time of year when the real and unreal come closest together, when what we know and what cannot be known are almost--almost--the same.

    fabulous picture!

    my family is headed to a church party....trunk or treat. We close off the parking lot and the kids basically go in circles until the candy is gone then inside for games and food. We're in charge of the balloon room. I'm looking forward to stepping on them at the end of the night ;-)

    Our cats have been locked up since Wednesday and Sneakers, the black one, hates me right now

    Ooh, good answers.

    We're starting early with a neighborhood potluck. Then the kids head out begging for candy in exchange for not damaging property. At least, that's how we used to do it. Tradition! Meeting with the supernatural!

    I'm sorry about Sneakers, BD. Will he/she get over it?

    WV: giligary - I haven't got a clue as to a meaning. It just sounds cool,perhaps a village like Brigadoon, where the people come to life every 100 years or so, this time on Halloween.

    Oh, I'm so bad. How could I forget Zen Monday? I got swept up in the Halloween spirit, what can I say? We'll just have to have Zen Tuesday.

    If it's any compensation, Zen Tuesday is historic. There have been only nine Zen Tuesdays.

    Yeah. Poor excuse.

    Actually, tomorrow is the first of the month: theme day. We're going to have to have Zen Wednesday.

    This is truly historic as only once before has there been a Zen Wednesday. It was in June of 2010:

    Great atmospheric shot with just the hint of a face on the ghostly apparition.

    Had some very cute young ghostlets come calling tonight, anything less scary would be difficult to imagine!

    First Halloween in the new house, so I'm not sure if the kids will come knocking or not. Maybe Tommy and Louise will scare them off.

    Cool photo! I hope to see kids in costumes on my walk home from work, but I live in an apartment building so I don't get anyone trick-or-treating. Good thing, as all I have to offer is individually wrapped prunes, which probably wouldn't go over that well.

    I just got home from a potluck with the neighborhood families and the excitement in the air is as real as a solid candy bar. The children are so darling! A little boy dragon, a little girl monkey, race car drivers, an M&M and a baby banana! They are precious and soooo excited. Can't wait to have them come to the door so I can give them their treats.

    I'm just gonna have to move. Nobody came... nobody. I did see a batch of kids in costume with their parents last Saturday evening heading to the neighborhood fire station and I think there was a neighborhood gathering yesterday afternoon (3-5 pm) for the kids. Otherwise, nuthin'.

    I think I've had 1 kid with her daddy show up here in the past 20 years.

    Great atmospheric photo! We've had several treat-seekers tonight. Ballerinas, witches, a football player, Lady Gagas, vampires, zombies, a bee. We still have some treats left over. Any takers? (I promise they aren't prunes :-) )

    I ran out of candy (and energy) a little while ago and shut down operations. I saved a couple of Butterfingers for myself. It's a weakness.

    Butterfingers!!!! My greatest weakness! None came to get my chocolate body parts, anyone want them? I used to take the leftovers to work the next day, but now I don't work, I can't inflict them on anyone.

    California Terace closes off the whole street for Halloween and is the magnet that draws the kids away from us.

    We went to Old Pasadena and watched the parade of amazing costumes, adults and children.

    I went to a couple of good Halloween parties over the weekend, but sadly had no trick-or-treaters tonight. Now I need to figure out what to do with all of this candy before I eat it all. Next year I'm buying candy that I don't like...
