Zen Monday: #161

Today's a holiday, but Zen Monday isn't taking the day off.

In Zen, one learns through experience rather than books or lectures. Zen Monday is the day you experience the photo and tells us what you've learned, rather than me lecturing you about it.

Please leave your thoughts in the comments box and enjoy.

  1. I've heard of long distance relationships...but a long distance proposal via post? wow!

  2. what we don't see is that Donna is flat out on the ground. Opened the package, saw the ring, took it out and thwap, hit the pavement, laid out. Hopefully the Pasadena USPS workers have been trained in resuscitation.

  3. Long-distance romance: "Of course, I love you, baby ...(Blah, blah, blah)...Yes, I want to marry you.... (Blah, blah, blah)...I'll be back as soon as I can, sugar....(Blah, blah, blah)...I miss you, too, sweetie. ... (Blah, blah, sniff, blah) ... I got your ring. ... (Blah, BLAH?) ...It's in the mail."

WV: stify - almost a stiffy, but lacking an "f" in enthusiasm.

  5. "Return to sender, address unknown. No such person, no such so

This time I'm gonna take it myself and put it right in her hand. And if it comes back the very next day then I'll understand..."

to quote a swivel hipped dude.

  8. Wow, I didn't get that thing was a jewelry box, so I was flummoxed by all these comments. You're all so clever!

  9. What Susan just said …
I had to go back and look again to see the box on top of the boxes.
    Well spotted!

  10. Oh, boy, books/bookstores aren't gonna like what you said about them. If they ever heard this, you might have a hard time finding zen books on their shelves.

  11. What is the sound of one store closing?

  12. The Emperor's new engagement ring?

  13. Yeah, well...for all the books and lectures and "life experience" credits she'd gotten at the community college, Connie still didn't know better than to accept the ring Butch got from Rings2Rent -- along with a SASE.

  15. Is 'velvety bivalve' code for 'bearded clam'?

  16. I didn't realize that was a ring box either. to me, it looked like tiny fat TV antenna, and I wondered if some small creature had taken up residence in one of the boxes.

  17. None of the above. The lightshow in the sky last night was to cover the tracks of a UFO landing. Those are the antennae of one of the little aliens hiding behind the boxes. look out!

  18. The box is open. The ring is gone. She said, "yes." Another box opened. "V" is for victory.

  19. Who said matrimony between mail partners was wrong for the country?

  20. I've heard that if you get your finger caught in one of those things, you have to gnaw your finger off to get away.

  21. You ARE all so clever. All I could think of was "mail order bride," and nobody even went there. Antennae and UFOs, for heaven's sake. And Randy Travis. Everywhere but postal matrimony.

And Cliff, is that a reference to the old ball and chain?

I really liked this picture and I didn't know what you all would do with it. I love Zen Monday.

  22. Fingers get ensnared in the "velvety bivalve"? How many nine-fingered guys victims of mollusk entrapment? That's what you get for stealing pearls.

  23. Petrea, I think it was more like wild animal caught in a trap, same general vicinity, I guess. Not sure, it just sort of floated to the surface.

  24. lol John...mail partners!

wv: wclan...oh, the places I could go with that with John's comment and the former pres....lol
